1. Create an account on http://www.twitch.tv/ -- this is the website where you will stream your videos on.
2. Create an account on http://www.xsplit.com/ and download XSplit Broadcaster -- this is the program
that will record your screen, and stream it to your account at twitch.tv
3. In XSplit press Tools >> General Settings >> Channels >> Add >> Justin/twitch.tv and fill it out with your twitch.tv account info. Play around with the quality settings.
4. TEST your streaming quality by pressing the button: Test Bandwidth
You will see “Trying to stream maximum data rate of XXXX kbps...”
What you want to see is numbers close to that XXXX being repeated, i.e.:
If they are, it means the settings you picked out can be handled by your internet connection.
The higher you go, the better the quality of the stream, but the kbps coming back need to be similar to the maximum data rate you selected. This is how you fine tune your stream’s quality.
5. In XSplit, at the bottom left, press: Add >> Screen Region and select where AoC is displayed on your screen.
What I do for streaming is change my monitor’s resolution to 1280*1024 (the reso I use to play on in AoC), and then stream that. This fixes my 10 second black screen problem, which I think is caused by the monitor switching resolutions when AoC starts.
6. Before a launch, in a Voobly Game Room, make sure these 3 settings are selected:
1. Game >> DirectX >> Render in 32 bit color
2. Game >> DirectX >> Start in Window-Mode (Requires 32-bit)
3. Game >> DirectX >> Advanced Features >> Hide windows title bar and move window to 0px,0px
7. In XSplit, press Broadcast >> Justin/TwitchTV
… aaand you’re live!
The link to your stream will be automatically in your ClipBoard -- in other words, all you have to do is open a browser, press paste, and go. Your channel should be up and running.
Congratz!

** IF YOU HAVE A BLACK SCREEN BROADCASTING PROBLEM **
1. In XSplit go to Tools >> Settings >> Channels >> Select your Channel
2. Change the Location to US-East.
Old Instructions:
How to get the Streaming working:
1. Make an account on the own3d site. This is the website to which you will stream your videos to.
Link: http://www.own3d.tv/signup
(there are other alternatives, but i find this one to be the best one)
2. Download the XSplit Broadcaster and make an account there. This is the program that will record your screen, and stream it to your account on own3d.tv
Link: http://www.xsplit.com/index.php
3. In XSplit, press Tools >> Channels >> Add >> Own3d
and fill out your login for Own3d.
4. The Video and Audio Encoding you will have to play around with.
Some guidelines can be found here: http://www.own3d.tv/content/19/#help_xsplit
I am using:
Video: 1280*1024 Resolution, Quality 10, Max Bitrate 2000, Buffer 3500.
Audio: 44.100 Khz 16 bit Stereo, Bitrate 64000
Save it, etc.
5. Now, at the bottom left corner of XSplit there is a Scene Sources list.
Press Add >> Screen region
and now select the area of the screen that you want broadcasted.
6. Now TEST IT!
In Xsplit, press Broadcat >> Own3d Channel.
The link to it will be automatically in your ClipBoard -- in other words, all you have to do is open a browser, press paste, and go. Your channel should be up and running, live.
On the http://www.own3d.tv site, at the top right corner there is a orange Broadcast link. Press it, select your livestream, and hit Start Record. This will save the recording on the own3d.tv site in "My Videos" which can be accessed by mouse over on your username on the own3d.tv site.
AoC and Windowed Mode:
You have two options:
1. Voobly Windowed Mode -- a really garbage option, but the only way to do it -- as i have found so far -- if you want to record Voobly games.
2. AoC VEG MOD -- a really great windowed mode, that can be downloaded here: viewtopic.php?f=101&t=25503
To play with Voobly Windowed Mode, after starting your stream, you need to:
1. Start Voobly, Host a game and press: Game >> DirectX >>
2. Check the Render in 32 Bit ~~
3. Check the Run in Windowed Mode ~~
4. Open the ShiftWindow program
Link: http://grismar.net/shiftwindow/
5. Launch or have someone launch the game, and in the pre-chat of the game open Shift Window, in the Window >> Window Title press Grab and select Age of Empires from the list.
6. When the game starts, and you see your tc -- not before --, you need to go to ShiftWindow, and press the button Trigger It. It will stretch the window to the full screen.
There will be problems, but this is as good as it gets.
To play with VEG MOD:
1. Run aoc through the executable provided in the VEG MOD
2. IP into a game
3. Play -- NOTHING else needed.
