Hey guys, i am a 18xx player fan of arena and my favorite strat on this map is trush, i probably do it 80% of the time, i am addicted to it, i don't like those fc and mrush/boom, i just like some fast actions on feodal. You will probably ask me why i don't play ara then, well i never liked those arch/scts war and my micro/speed sux since i barely use hotkeys and i'm super lazy guy to do it.
So i saw recently many people complaining about towers on wk and that it's hard to counter them, we need a nerf blabla, but the thing is i saw many games on arena and the way people defend it is sometimes awful. or the player that trush is just trushing rly bad. I'm just gonna try to give my feedback and my experience, ofc what i will write is not for sure right, i am only 18xx and any 2ks will probably have better answers and some advice to give to me or others, im just doing this little tutorial for the people around my lvl or below who wants few tips.
So first of all what is the build order for trush? The thing with trush is that u need to try to go up as fast as u can, faster u go up to feodal and faster u can get into his town and put a tower before he is in feodal. If he is doing a normal feodal time, he will be up around 11:30 while u will be around 9:20 which gives u 2mins at least to break his walls and put a tower in his town. You can with any civ do at minimum 20pop up without pushing deers, for that u do like scout build orders, 3 on wood at begin, and all on boars/sheeps. At pop 18 u sent one villager to do a mill so u have the buildings to go up. I don't recomment to sent more vills on berries at begin cuz u need to walk and u can waste a bit of time instead of putting all ur vills on boars/sheeps. Ofc if u push deers it's easier, but like i said i'm a really lazy guy and i never push deers if they are outside of my walls. Note that with a civ like mongol, u can do a 18pop up no loom(with pushing deers, impossible without cuz u will have no food in feodal if u don't push) which is even stronger since u will be in feodal at 8min, same with malay and their fast up times and like i said faster u get up and better it is. Ofc some also do 22pop up cuz they want to sent 4fwds vills and do tower rush with archers, then i don"t recommend 20pop up 11. But i don't rly like that strat so i won't talk about it.
When u just clicked up, u sent 3 vills to stone, another vill on wood to have 4 on the lumberjack, 6-7vills fwd and the remaining vills on the berries to have some food. With a 20pop up and 6-7 vills fwd u will have a weak eco so the macro will be important.
Once u sent ur fwd vills outside, u should alrdy have scout ur ennemy base and see what he has around his town and the fwd ress. Now i suggest in 90% of the times to trush from the middle of his base, not on the left or right corner like i see many do, why? because from a corner it's easier for him to wall but harder from the middle. 10% of the time u can trush from corner if u rly think it matters cuz he has important ress gold/stone fwd on corners so it worth it.
When u build the first tower just next to wall, u use 3vills and ur sct to break the wall and the 3-4remaining vills u attack the wall ur breaking. U need to do that very fast, the timing is rly important since u want to put a second tower fast in his home before he is up so that u can get some map control and scout him. While u are trushing, at ur home don't forget to sent 2more vills on stone so u have at least 5 stone miners working so u can keep trushing and not have idle fwd. Then start sending vills on wood and farm progressivly until u get around 10farmers. Let's come back to ur fwd trush, try to always put a tower in a zone where he has farms or eco runing to delay him. IF u see he tries to force fc judging by the score, u can go scouts to kill his mangos, his eco want be strong since he fc and u maybe delayed him with ur towers, so it can be a good choice to stay a bit longer in feodal to keep map control,and if he is committed into feodal then keep going on with ur trush 11.
For defending a trush, it's not rly hard, most of the time when the trusher is up, u will be probably in transition to feodal without loom, if it's the case, then i recommend u start doing pallies so when he enter in ur town, he is forced to break again pallies and wont be able to touch ur eco asap, it will delay him enough the time u get up and do ur own towers so he cannot progress. U should always pali to delay him, cuz if u let him a free open area, he can hurt you a lot with his sct or towers. In the case he is trushing and u havent still clicked up for some reason( malay for example or u alrdy loomed in dark age) make the loom asap and go up after. Loom first cuz while he is trying to break one of ur wall, all u need to do is to sent 4 vills fwd and do a house in front of the place he is breaking wall, he will probably hit you with the tower and garrison, but since u have 4vills and loom and he wont have fletching asap, u can sent the injured ones one by one back to ur tc. If u can do that, it will be a sucess since he will also have to break the house completed or not and it will delay him a lot and u will probably be up by that time. IF u do defend like this, most of the times u will be castle age before him and have time to do siege, be carfull if he didnt make scouts and try rewall asap so he doesnt get army in. In case a player tower hop from the corners, then u have to make houses fast into that corner so when he gets in, he has to break those houses and do another tower to progress.
By the way, i don't recommend to trush any of those civs u are against: korea, spanish, teutons, vikings, malay, aztec, mayans, incas. They have strong eco bonus or towers bonus build. I wouldn't recommend people to trush, because i think it's easier to defend it than attack. It should only work if a player has his ress fwd, then it can be interessting or if u are outcived hard and u have no other choice. I think people are still pretty new on arena with the trush and 900hp walls so they aren't yet used to do a proper defend, but once they got it, it will become harder to trush and do some damage.
This is the main idea for doing a trush or defend a trush, ofc i didn't detail everything, i just wrote my main ideas, it will be too long to explain what to do then in castle age since there are many situations and don't forget that i am lazy :D
