Precisely.Spain don't even have xbows, so my guess is he was using FU archers hahaThey do work, so obviously you were already losing.

Thought it wouldn't matter that much, since archers are considered a TK counter, and I had researched all BS upgrades.
It did matter.
@ Melkor.
Yes, I was in fact losing. No, they don't work.
"random fact" 1 elite chu ko nu on a hill can kill an archer in one volley :D
The last point is so true.Out of 18 civilizations, 10 have hand cannoneer. That's more than half.
Of the eight that don't, six have arbalest, and four of those have a UU with a pierce attack. The other two, which get neither hand cannon nor arbalest, are the Celts and the Huns. Celts can use scorpions, while Huns can use heavy cavalry archers.
Teutonic Knights are awesome at blitzing into a town early imperial age, if you got to imperial first with a castle. They are also good if you managed to draw your opponent into a trash war, but still have gold left over yourself. Furthermore, they force other civilizations to use suboptimal units for them, such as Goths forced away from infantry, Franks forced away from cavalry and throwing axemen, and Saracens forced away from mamelukes.
They are SLOW though, and are usually not too difficult to counter if you know they're coming. A surprise hit can be deadly, though.
8-) shhhNot if both civs have full armours researched
FU Japanese halberdier kills FU cavalier-nothing trumps that!"random fact" 1 elite chu ko nu on a hill can kill an archer in one volley :D
there's no need to counter them, by the time they get to your base the game is already over

I think loading them onto rams is a good way to make them faster.Sort of like ''knight mobiles''. :

Did you know that the Teuton unique tech (Castle age) 'Ironclad' adds extra melee armour to their siege weapons?Get a mongol ally. Fill up his rams.

Actually,if they were garrisonable in stables, you could make an army of them and the enemy will go halbs and when the order comes out bury the halbs and later the enemy!
