Sorry for such a long first post. I am an HD player and I have relatively higher ELO (1800-2000) but I mostly
play Black Forest. I know how to Boom properly and I also understand unit
counters thanks to Phillipe Le Boon's guide.
Yesterday in a 4v4 BF game I was Koreans. I was against Persians and Celts.
I was really better than both of Celts and Persian player but since there
was only one passage on each side they walled and boomed as well, not as
good as me but chance of early attack was impossible (10 layer walls, not
adjacent layers and no siege rams). My ally on my side was Chinese and he
was really really weak. His maximum villager count was 65 !!
[P5] Korean (Me) + [P6] China vs [P3] Persians + [P1] Celts
Other side
[P7] Britons + [P4] Saracens (My other 2 allies) vs [P2] Franks + [P8]
Mongol
These are the stats from game. http://imgur.com/a/kAoxe
Action started around min 43. I was ready by 38, all researches done but
they had 10 layers of wall so I decided to setup full trade. I had 75 trade
carts so no shortage of gold and I was selling gold for stone so no
shortage of that either. My army combination was 10-15 SO, ~30-40 halbs,
~25-30 Champions. Persian did not attack till minute around min 50 guess he
was just booming. So initially I was fighting just Celts and I was able to
push him with army and BBT spam. At that point Celts was only making Siege
onagers, Paladins & Halbs. Then Persian elephants started flooding in, I
concentrated more on halbs and I was still able to push though very slowly
with my army of Halbs, Siege Onagers & BBT. I took out some buildings from
Celts but Pers castles were in back so I could not take any of them out.
During all this the only army Chinese was making was Chokunus from 2
castles only (Can he do more with only max 65 vils !!)
Then Celts came out with 20 Siege rams (Around game time 1 hour 10 mins).
This along with Elephants, Paladins, Halbs and Celts SO (4-5). I had 5
stables built already and hussar upgrade done so I started making hussars
for rams but it just did not workout. I tried mixing Champions, Hussars,
Halbs & Siege Onagers but I kept on loosing ground. I literally begged P6
to make camels but he resigned after a while and did nothing. My other 2
allies were busy on their fronts and did not send help, asked many times.
Why Britons + Sara were not able to push franks and Mongols is something I
don't understand.
During all this fight only at one point my pop went below 180. There was no
economy problem, I was on limit on wood & food but never short. But I just
could not counter rams. When I resigned I had 10k gold and 2k stone left in
the bank and I never stopped making BBTs even when I was getting pushed
back. I was building them in back but they were all getting destroyed by
rams.
Any advice on what I could have done differently to deal with this. There
is no recorded game unfortunately.
Thanks
