Back in the 90's, getting your hands on mp3's was kind of a fuss. It also mattered how you played them. There were all kinds of music players into development. Using windows media player was a bit of no-go for advanced users. Many used win-amp. I personally was charmed by a small player called Sonique, mainly because it had breathtaking visualisers. I am still using it.
Nowadays, playing your music files is kind of integrated. You just double click and it is played for you. How or by what program, does anyone care? I still feel repelled by the have and sluggish Windows Media Player. (also because it wants to take over file management from me, something i hate in windows too)
