When performing attack ground on Shrivamsha Riders damage ignores the shield. Bug or feature? Is it the only weakness of this unit?

I don't own the DLC so I can't test it, but just to be sure, isn't it somehow caused by the mangonel's many secondary projectiles which deplete the shield? Or does it happen even with for example BBCs?

m0re tried attack ground with BBCs and onagers and both ignore the Shrivamsha Riders armor. Regular trebs don't ignore it but Werewolf trebs do when using attack ground on editor

Dumb unit with stupid mechanics that should never have been introduced. If I wanted to watch someone evading projectiles I'd go back to watching The Matrix.

Cool unit with interesting design, still worse than knight in most situations. May be OP in some situations but that's what ballance patches are for. Finally not another knight/swordman/xbow reskin but new mechanic.

Literally every Unique Unit after the Rise of Rajas has a unique ability that feels forced and aoe4-ish. Something nobody asked for and some don't even make sense at all.

You didn't ask for. It doesn't mean that nobody asked for. Watch some Viper or another pro stream, they are mostly loving new things. Maybe because they can think out of box and doesn't like playing the same units/strats all the time.

And its funny how you connected antything new and interesting in aoe2 with aoe4.
I'm pretty sure you are one of this guys who misses good old voobly times when everybody played huns vs huns because diversity is the the worst thing that could happen to our beloved game.

It sure sucked so much to be able to play the map you want or participate in team games. Oh the horrors. I was getting forced every day to do things I want instead of the only good way of leaving it to RNG. I got whipped every time team game had no players dropping and both sides were balanced.

I played on msn zone so not really newcommer, but thanks I feel much younger now.

Sure I was hyperbolic with "huns only". I did it because I don't get why so many people hate new things in the game.

And I'm not demonizing voobly. Voobly is great and i think this community survived so long because of voobly. You just cut out half of my sentence and quoted it.
Actually I love lobby system for team games much more than current rankeds which is great in 1v1 but not really in tgs.

I was just answering to the guy who said "noobody was asking for new, unique mechanics", because I like most of new staff (excluding flamish revolution 11).

And shrivamsha rider is not even OP (knight are better in most scenarios), so I don't know why ppl complaining about it.

Nope, there is a huge damage difference between attack ground and right click attack (right click attack doesn't even negate armor). And the result is that attack ground with an unit that can deal friendly fire ignores the armor completely.

As in the damage needs to be one that also deals friendly fire. For example normal trebuchets don't ignore armor but Warwolf does.

Because it is OP due you always can add camels which has same upgrades, so you don't need to really switch troops to counter opponent. Sure infantry works for a while til disc throwers comes, However, not saying im against new things. New things are fine, just need to nerf gurjaras, their troops overall are quite fun, also need to buff bengalis, so far it seems almost everything is countered by skirms what they do, except elephants, but not sure how viable they are, especially early castle age. But essencially you can't give good eco civ such good tech trees and units. But I'm sure next patch devs will nerf gurjaras, probably hindustanis too, curious how they plan to buff bengalis.

Gurjaras are too strong, I agree. But I thought it's mainly because their camels with extra bonus damage and melee armor from unique tech. Shrivamsha are ok, and fun to play imo. If they are too strong as well it can be fixed by ballance patches.

Apologies then, it just looked like one of many posts which hate on voobly based solely on hearsay without ever experiencing it, the trend is most definitely there among some other people.
I guess i chose wrong time to be snarky about that and failed spectacularly :P

BTW I agree with Shrivamsha Riders not being OP. I think the main problem at the moment is that people aren't used to playing against them yet, they require different approach. If you spread your attacks between multiple units, it feels like shrivamsha never die, but you don't even need a big mass to start killing them with focus fire. Gotta always keep in mind the quickly regenerating reload bar. Minor tuning to the reload mechanic might be considered but I'm not sure if it's necessary.

The thing I fear the most is that devs could nerf the unit excessively before it's truly figured out and then it would end up becoming underpowered. Hopefully that won't be the case.

I watched spirit of the law video about this unit, it is so ridiculous how this unit don't take any damage from siege units in direct attack; I believe that this unit needs 4 nerfs at once. Nerf speed, nerf cost, nerf dodge time and nerf training time.

I sometimes see people use it, it might need some buff, not sure about it, but it definetily is not useless

Then would be completly useless.
It's worse than knight when it comes to fight against xbows/arbalesters.
This unit is great in riding and countering small groups of arches. And it's exelent against slow firing, gunpowder units.
Why to nerf this unit to the ground? Is it because it can't be killed by bombard cannons and onagers? Seriously? Oh, I forgot, siege units are designed to be hard counter against cavalry.

Well it did get buffed a while ago iirc. The initial nerfs made it depressingly bad. Now it's occasionally useful but it would be cool if it was a bit stronger. I think civs should have strong incentive to go for regional units, otherwise what's the point of adding regional units in the first place? Obviously, they shouldn't be the best choice in every single scenario but perhaps more often than not.

What bothers me more about this unit, that their mechanic make them dodge any projectile. This means any unit that throw something it will dodge it, Mamelukes, siege units, Arambai, handcannoneers, Bombards so not only archers. It is cheap, it is fast, insane fast training time and great at raidings. The unit is really Indian and came from Indians movies.
