EWD 2 Admin Decision

Dear viewers and community members! In the following post we will detail an unfortunate admin decision that had to be taken. The following decision was made as a result of discussion with multiple notable community members, admins and tournament hosts. The post also contains spoilers about the outcome of the Quarterfinals.

By rule, the two semifinals would have been played at the same time starting 15GMT, to allow the same amount of rest for the teams before the Grand Finals. Unfortunately on Saturday, GamerLegion A informed us that due to unforeseen circumstances, they are not going to be able to field a team between 12 and 19 GMT Sunday.

A 19 GMT start for the second Semifinals would be quite late, as it would require the finals to be played very late (probably 21:30GMT+), which would already be very late for Suomi if they make it to the finals. Playing earlier is not possible due to the time zones of aM B. Postponing the Semifinals and Grand Finals are not possible as it interferes with the RBW5 preparation of the players. The GamerLegion A players took full responsibility for the happenings and claimed the following: “We will accept any admin decision as it's our fault.” Since we weren’t able to work out a solution on Saturday, and wanted to make sure everything that can be done is tried to resolve the issue, we came up with the following decision:

We decided that we will give time until Sunday 11GMT for GamerLegion to see if they can get any kind of arrangement done to have at least 2 players available for a semifinals start no later than 18GMT. If not, then the best option is that GamerLegion A is replaced by Vietnam Strategy B, the team GL A defeated in the Quarterfinals. Vietnam Strategy B has agreed to play if GL A cannot.

Unfortunately, it was not possible for GamerLegion to make any arrangements, and as such, Vietnam Strategy B is taking the place of GamerLegion A in the Semifinals.

While the situation is unfortunate, we believe we listened to multiple opinions and made the most reasonable decision. Furthermore, we would like to ask everybody to remain respectful when wording their opinions.

Rly sad that GL won't be able to play, but probs to the admins for reaching out to VNS to replace them just in case, so we have no AW but instead a great series.

Pretty bad from a pro team who are all full time aoc professionals.. they had 3 in the rooster so cant be that all 3 had scheduling conflict, not sure what is going on..

PS: I do find it odd that GL can't field a team but I'm old enough to know that there must've been good reasons.

I would understand any other team dropping out as aoe is not their main profession, but Gamer Legion is the only e-sports organization in the scene, their players are getting paid salary to play tournaments and still at least 2 out of 3 players are unavailable at a date they knew about weeks in advance..

As you know, we had to withdraw from the Empire Wars Duo semi-finals for the simple reason that we weren't going to have two players to play the semi-finals.

For you to understand, I was going to fly to Germany on Tuesday because Spain was considered as high risk area and I had to do 5 days quarentine in Germany. This changed the last weekend of August so I no longer needed to quarantine and decided to change the flight to the weekend. Nili had told us that he was not going to be able to play this weekend because he was traveling, something I didn't remember when I booked my 2nd flight, so obviously things were complicated from here when he did let me know again. I thought that being only a few hours away (I would be on time for Finals but not for SF), and being a recorded games semifinal that perhaps we could play it the day before, Saturday. In fact, we play our games on Friday to have Saturday free to play our SF games in case the team we had to met could play on Saturday as well, in that case we would of had 0 problems because as I said I would have been on time for finals. We couldn't get to a time that would fit the two teams, so obviously we had to make the decision to withdraw. The fault has been mine and I assume the responsibility, I take this opportunity to thank Lidakor and the administrators for the tournament, they have done everything possible to facilitate us to play, but it couldn't happen, and I apologize for the problems caused.

No possibility of drama, because it is in the rule book, just like many of the recent admin decisions.

Glad GL accepted it instead of getting Twitter fingers.

Just because they are part of esport organization doesn't mean they are getting paid salary. For example team secret didn't pay them

They are getting paid and the only drama here can be why Nili is traveling (personal or work related?) on a weekend where he potentially has to play a SF and final.
