have u seen jonslows socotra tourney? i bet against that being a successfull no-action strategy.Does it? I think you just wall from minute 1-3 on like people do these days on all these EW maps.

No, haven't seen it. Do you have a link to YT/VOD or so?have u seen jonslows socotra tourney? i bet against that being a successfull no-action strategy.

I will repeat here with what I responded to the Microsoft post thread regarding this matter.
'Wow is pretty much all I can say. As someone who has played DM on and off for the past 20 years and is heavily involved in the DM community for streaming DM games and organising / hosting DM tournaments, this just shows exactly the problem with large corporations these days being so out of touch with their client base and most of all their loyal playerbase. At the very least, consult with the DM community on how we can improve the situation and help better DM for the considerable future.
We have some passioniate, hardcore and dedicated players who have some excellent ideas on how we can achieve this. Listen to the community and the valuable players who help promote DM on every level possible. DMWC4 was an absolute amazing success with over 10K viewership numbers on twitch and $10,000 prizepool donated totally by the DM community itself.
The level of DM play was outstanding and encouraged many new people wanting to try their hand at DM as a result of this tournament and this sudden announcement has thrown all the hardwork out of the window. I cannot stress how much of a fundamental error you guys are displaying in getting rid of a gamemode which many of us have grown up with and are continually playing 20 years later.
I will leave you with a quote from the 'Last of Us Part II' - as a character Owen Moore said to his friend Abbie 'I want what you want....but not at any cost' - This quote could not be anymore true with what you guys are trying to achieve in pushing a ladder for EW and getting rid of the DM ladder which has always had to live in the shadows of other gamemodes with no investment in tournaments from Microsoft to help aid and grow the DM playerbase and the community.'
This would require those in charge to genuinely acknowledge they aren't doing things perfectly rather than merely saying so in blog posts as if empty words can somehow mask the reality of their actions.Devs still struggling to see that their matchmaking system, lobby UI, map pools, crashes, dodges, lack of moderation and poor game performance are causing players to play less.
Not that anyone should have had any left by this point anyways. This most certainly doesn't inspire any trust in their decision making.
Pretty much sums up the competence level of the whole operation in a nutshell if true.Look at the graph closely. You don't just see that it's a really bad graph from the data lead of World's Edge that doesn't even have a description on the y-axis, no but what you also see is that the timeline on the x-axis just goes until March 2021. So they might made this decision already in March 2021 but waited until after the tournament. Otherwise I can't explain why they don't have more recent data on that, tbh
Is this still active? I know around the start of DE it was a thing but from the reaction you tend to see from pros about the things FE do it doesn't seem like they are listened to very much.Currently there's the famous FE discord were main pros and active streamers (If I'mnot mistaken T90 is here) discuss balance changes and report bugs.
Ah ok, but that isn't EW, I saw a few games of that tournament, but I thought I missed some in Empire Wars game mode.Masters of Socotra: jonslow youtube playlist
Im sorry, but aoe2 was never a non-profit open source project. Obviously a game that costs investment/money to make and is being sold is supposed to make money. Same as the original aoe1 and aoe2. Judging by the still growing player numbers of DE overall, they are satisfying a decent number of people with it, so doesnt seem like a bad thing in general. Not like they shut the old versions down like blizzard with its W3 reforged mess...That attitude is what let MS/FE release a definitive edition to make money. Something I've always been surprised about - seeing people not complain or have a problem with MS/FE or members of the community exploiting that to make money or whatever their own personal gains are. Or even for little gains, such as to **** on another part of the community that's kept it alive.
why would u assume EW to be wall heavier than darkage start? seems to me that walling would be even harder thereAh ok, but that isn't EW, I saw a few games of that tournament, but I thought I missed some in Empire Wars game mode.
obviously you dont make decisions like that randomly but plan them quite in advance. and better announce this after dm wc rather than just before...Pretty much sums up the competence level of the whole operation in a nutshell if true.
Well overall numbers suggest otherwise, more people than ever playing online/multiplayer aoe2. Though improvements ofc could make those number even bigger.Devs still struggling to see that their matchmaking system, lobby UI, map pools, crashes, dodges, lack of moderation and poor game performance are causing players to play less.

Because it's more aggressive and people need to protect themselves of early raids for example with scouts minute 2-3 on their resources, I guessed.why would u assume EW to be wall heavier than darkage start? seems to me that walling would be even harder there
Are these issues only in DM? If not, data doesn't seem to agree with you.Devs still struggling to see that their matchmaking system, lobby UI, map pools, crashes, dodges, lack of moderation and poor game performance are causing players to play less.
You see only actual numbers, not loss of growth relative to potential. Are these issues only in DM? If not, data doesn't seem to agree with you.
Or there might have been an increase in games played since march due to DMWC4 and would look odd if there is a spike in the graph as they decided to bin DMView attachment 192155

is just another proof that the DM ladder as it stand is an utter disgrace. We can't have a ladder just for 100 people.I manage to climb my way into the Top 10-20 in the world within 1 year and now you want to shut down everything that many people worked for ?
This can happen anytime in RM 1v1 too, the second nC | Jaysquared (3241 TG right now) decides to play some 1v1 and dab on hera with the first 3k rating in 1v1.The DM ladder is an absolute joke, just consider that the #1 changed from yesterday to today because some guy played 10 game with 7 wins and 3 losses lol...
