Where is the number of people playing ew in qp ?Does anyone actually play EW outside of the one game you play in RBW and lose?
Seriously though, does anyone play it?
This is a shame and a slap in the face to the aoe2 community.

I always appreciate a graph where only one axis is labeled.View attachment 192141
I admit I laughed hard at that graph tho
1k players on the ladder is a bit misleading IMO. 1k players have played a ranked game in what 3 or 4 weeks? (your rank disappears after a certain time in all game modes) or the required 10 ranked games to get a rank. There are many more people than 1k who play ranked DM, they arent just playing at the same time or bounce back and forth from RM.Although I personally find DM very boring i kinda feel bad for the dmers.
That being said, even now they only have 1k players on the ladder (and i bet thats the absolute peak they had), so the reasoning in the blog makes sense (queing there only brings unbalanced matches for new players and thats bad for the scene long term).
The lobbies were originally merged when the DM lobby dropped to around 25-30 players per moment. The ladders were migrated to Medieval Siege. At an unknown point the DM lobby was remade, but there was no reason to use it, since you do not have to leave Medieval Siege to play a rated DM match. So watching the number of players per that remade lobby is not useful. You are better off comparing how many matches accumulate to the DM 1v1 and DM TG ladders per day or any other time period.I mean, i just went to my voobly account and theres 5 DM players there over the 1000 RM players in casual and ranked games.

A real knee slapper if I've ever seen one.listen to your players
Major disrespect against a part of the community. Worst timing imaginable. Pretty bad communication overall again, not even giving an alternative to the DMers, like "we are bringing DM into quickplay" or anything. And not even telling them what happens to the DM ladder if it's not ranked anymore. How will future DM tournaments be seeded? Absolutely bad and stupid move of them. I'm quite angry and it makes me just put more energy into and spend more thoughts on everything they don't want and fear the most.
Thoughts?
New ranked mode means EW special map pool, new ladder... good stuff. I wonder who the top 1v1 EW players will beImagine you waste 2h to find a game but you blame then dark age to steal your time.
What a pityful argument.
If you check DM and RM at the same time you also dont suffer from long queueing times in the DM ladder.
If they dont want to split queues then why did they add quickplay ? Did this move lead to a massive increase in mp.players ? I kinda doubt that people would play ew after the firsy try once they realize that they now:
1. Only face Vikings or Ethiopians thanks to the bad ew balance habits
2. Must play very fast and managing eco is actually very hard and it comes down to rearranging your starting vills to ress according to strat
3. I doubt ew will replace the mode for people to become good in since the game for 20 years was played in rm and the dark age being so predictable was kinda a safety hammock you can rely and train on in sp before going out there in the wild
Oh, didnt knew that. Maybe you are right, so i decided to do other test. I went to AOE2.net to check how many people had "last match ended" in the 1vs1 DM ladder and the 1vs1 RM ladder in the last 7 days. It turns out, 588 players had at least one game in the DM ladder in the last week in ranked, meanwhile 32916 players have played at least one game on the 1vs1 RM ladder in the last 7 days. Which means that out of a universe of 33504 players who have played one 1vs1 ranked game on AOE2DE in the last week, DM players represent 1,76% of all players. And this counting only the 1vs1 ranked games. And we all know the DM team games are almost zero. I tried paying ranked games in aoe1, never came back exactly because of this lmaoAoE1 DE did some of that as it displayed active multiplayer players and not a surprise, it's always 0. If it is zero, then they will not queue up. So people go for lobbies to play ranked in AoE1 DE which cannot happen in AoE2 DE now due to unranked lobbies, unfortunately.
Not misleading at all. This is how ladder sytems work in every game (and 4 weeks is a lot of time, since the usual is 1-2 weeks to kick out inactive players).1k players on the ladder is a bit misleading IMO. 1k players have played a ranked game in what 3 or 4 weeks? Things like openage, external matchmaking, reimplementing their multiplayer backend.
