Do you consider AoE2 Pros as "Stars"?

Do you guys think AoE2 Pros are some kind of "Stars"? I actually do. Imagine walking through the city and see Jordan, i would totally ask for a photo (can actually happen since we live in same city and i would notice his handsomeness from 300 meters). For me AoE2 Pros are bigger Stars then CR7 or Messi.

To the pros: How would you react if some random creep asking for a photo and did you ever get asked for photos? (I doubt pros read my thread but lets try).

I believe Nicov mentioned on stream that he was recognised on the street and, I think, at an airport, and IIRC someone stood under Viper's window and called his name or something. It's a niche game but for many of its fans the top players are, indeed, stars.

What about chess? Or poker? And what about the teamwork/coordination skills that AoE2 team games teach you? The problem-solving skills that the game teaches you in general? AoE2 isn't about clicking buttons as fast as possible. It trains your brain to be better.

Considering two definitions of the word star are:

1. An outstandingly talented performer
2. A person who is preeminent in a particular field

They are indeed stars somewhere. At the same time though, they aren’t in the same league as like Tom Cruise, Elon Musk, or in most recent days, Will Smith.

Respectable, sure (although some would disagree about Elon Musk), but the actors are probably not much better at acting than many other aspiring actors who do not get stardom due to not being as attractive (or just not being able to catch a lucky break). Anybody can work their way up to being an "AoE2 star" if they have the skills and try hard enough. I'm certainly trying myself, and I believe it is possible. I don't have to get lucky, I just have to play well.

I suppose Elon is quite the character 11. I respected him after he said a captain should go down with his ship (Tesla has almost been bankrupt 4 times and he never cashed out) and how honest he was about how “wealthy” he is in some podcast/interview.

I believe it is possible as well to go really high in aoe or even anything no matter who you are. I truly wish you the best of luck on your journey. Go get it.
