Hello habibis,
DemEyesRed Arena Cup is over and I am proud of the entire event with everyone involved in certain ways. I have started planning the project at the end of last year, began informing certain people in the beginning of February and announced the tournament on March 1st. After that I actively scheduled with the qualified players on a daily basis, did Admin work for nearly every match-up while I was in the process of moving into a new apartment, working part-time and writing term papers for university. Then, from March 29 to 31 I casted 8 games, resulting in pretty much exactly 24 hours of streaming (as we had 19 of 20 possible games in the Quarterfinals). All in all, I am more than happy about the results of my efforts put into the project and I am grateful for everyone who has participated. I received (for my standards) exceptionally great numbers on my channel for that weekend and it was a pleasure to have presented you a solid event. I have started streaming nearly a year ago (started in late April 2018) and I think it has been a good development so far.
Thus, I would like to thank all the individual people who helped me with DERAC.
First, I want to thank all the players, who have been extremely professional and scheduled actively throughout the entire time, showing me that they take this tournament adequately serious. I feel honored to have had these great players participating:
BacT
The winner of the tournament who has proven his great skill by playing aggressively, trading mangonels like the greediest merchant on earth, having had an epic comeback from the depths of hell in the match-up against Tim. He delivered numerous exciting games and also took his time for the finals on Sunday, which I appreciate a lot. Congratulations, man. Next level performance.
Vivi
Robin has told him about my personal thoughts concerning his strong performance and general participation already and I am happy to have received a nice answer back. In this tournament, Vivi has shown us how to get map control even with a 3HP scout multiple times, getting all 5 relics with that and starving out his opponent, as if he watches Melkor games every day and night. The infamous Fat Dragon has reached the second spot and it is very well deserved.
DauT
Habibi DauT blessed DERAC with his presence and played really strong games. One game during the match-up against Melkor went over 2 in-game hours, in which he was taking on the fight against one of Melkor's favorite civilizations, the Teutons. Furthermore, DauT has actually been the most notable castle interrupter, as, in DERAC, he denied and also took down the castles of his opponent the most. He joined Melkor's scout war and has beaten him in the end. Also, he was nearly getting wrecked by a Teutons death ball, but then pushed back for an entire hour and showed stamina and willpower. 3rd place in the tournament and probably 1st place for epic moments.
Melkor
Blacksmith+Stable and up. He did that 10 out of 11 times, if I recall correctly and while he could not win after the quarterfinals, he had the most memorable match-up in the beginning, as he was up against TaToH and was able to defeat him, which is an impressive accomplishment in my eyes, as we know about the Spanish player's versatility and clever gameplay. I have never seen a Franks Chivalry push like that... how does one even maintain an economy for that without making a single mistake on a 2k5 level? Watching Melkor play is witnessing a relentless grind and constant improvement. Most exceptional attitude.
TaToH
For many people he was the favorite of the tournament, but lost in the first round. It is slightly complicated to pinpoint, which factors made him lose in the end, since both him and Melkor played really well. Without any proper gold income and in a completely defensive stance, TaToH kept 30 arbalests alive for more than 30 in-game minutes, which did not win him the game, but showed us, how this player knows how to survive. He showed a similar move during the last ECL 3v3 when he as a flank survived and protected the trade route till the very end to give his team-mate, TheViper, as much time as possible to take over the other flank. That has been the 3rd project with him and it will certainly not be the last one.
JonSlow
Damn this man for being a combo-breaker, as he played the only match that went for 4 instead of 5 games during the quarterfinals... Jokes aside, I am happy, that he could make it into the tournament. Next to Melkor, he gave most of the constructive arguments during the creation of the tournament map, which I really appreciate. He is the only person on earth, who I could forgive for trushing. And that means a lot.
ACCM
I have watched countless games of ACCM during the past year, so it is great to have this skilled player joining the tournament. I learned a lot about his play style through St4rk and was looking forward to seeing his performance during DERAC. His match-up against DauT was exciting, because it was well-balanced, therefore it was hard to determine the outcome. Certainly someone who I want to invite to future events.
Tim
The second Frantic player of DERAC was the legendary Tim. His playstyle is unique, as he loves to slowly progress with towers no matter when. Together with BacT he hopped over quite some walls with villagers and M@a which was maybe not always nice to watch, but was incredibly micro-intensive. I have also sent him my personal message through Robin and I am proud, that he has joined my very first tournament.
Moreover, I would also like to thank my co-casters for joining me:
PROject_Belgium - Great player, great co-caster, YALLAH HABIBI.
DracKeN (aka DraCoNT) - Many people (and me included) were excited to hear the voice of the meta philosopher. I am honored, that you joined me without hesitation. Glad that you are back to playing!
Jupe - With hhhhupeee I had really fun moments during the cast. He is a truly aspiring expert and impresses with good game-play and great knowledge. Someone I want to co-cast with again.
MrGPN - My day 1 habibi. No further words needed.
St4rk - Hands down the best co-caster one could wish for. Excellent game knowledge, experience and toxicity. Thank you for co-casting with me countless times. There are those people who talk about how they would support a person, but never do it in the end. St4rk is not one of them.
I also want to thank some other people for their support in the background:
Most importantly : CHRAZINI! Thank you for creating DERAC_Arena. It was an interesting process and I am 100% satisfied with the result. Your great attitude and interest in new challenges has been inspiring and I wish you all the best for your upcoming projects. Be sure, that I will contact you regularly! Much, much appreciated!
After that, thanks of all Memb, Nili and T90 for taking me serious and being as transparent as possible concerning scheduling events. I appreciate this a lot and will remember this. It means a lot to me.
Also, I want to thank Robin_von for being very professional and quick concerning the communication with the Chinese players. I am looking forward to working with you again. Furthermore, thanks to Yo and Lyx for broadcasting the games on douyou to present DERAC to the Chinese community.
Then also thanks to Lanchi for giving me a couple of tips concerning my administrative work and also for doing some DERAC advertising in the Taiwanese community.
Huge thanks to Robo for setting up everything on AoEZone. This was some quality work!
Thanks to the VooblyOfficial Streamer team for setting up the technical arrangement to make DERAC possible on the Voobly platform!
Thanks to EscapeAoE for letting me shout my tournament out after my latest cast on their channel; I am glad, that we have talked again and looking forward to smoother communication in the future.
