First off, allow me to apologize if such a topic exist already, I couldn't find one.
So hi, my name's scrimpeh, and I have been interested in AoE2 for quite a while now - played it when I was young, and through all the shoutcasts of AoC games on youtube by the likes of ZeroEmpires and Turkman, I've become quite fascinated with the game again. I was really looking forward to the HD edition, since it was an excellent opportunity for me to purchase the game and play it myself again. Unfortunately, as it seems, the HD edition is incompatible with recorded AoC games. Kind of a bummer for me, as I'd like to be able to watch them without getting AoC extra.
So, here is what I'm wondering about: Surely, the files can't be so different that it is impossible to convert one to another. Has anybody taken a look at how the files differ yet? With all the information presented on this site with each recorded game, it appears that the recorded games file format is fairly well documented. Is this documentation availalbe somewhere? I'd love to know.
Thanks
