Get something local. My first car was an Acura TL and it was fun, but honestly repair costs on higher end cars are tougher to pay for unless you have more disposable income than most do in their teens or early 20's. I'd suggest getting something along the lines of a Toyota, something relatively dependable with a lot of parts in the market for whenever the inevitable repairs are needed. Find a few makes you're comfortable with, then see what they offer for styles. Some might only want a sedan, some feel the need for a SUV. Engine specs change from mode to model, so you would get better gas value out of something smaller, where as something larger might offer better utility or safety. Read lots of reviews on what you think you're interested in, including maintenance or long term cost reviews.
Idk about Europe but in Canada you have to do a bunch of **** to import a car from the US. Its generally better/easier to get a car locally

never IMPORT a car
it will cost like double of real cost

for first time buyer, I would say don't import/buy expensive. Most 16-18 year old kids do not treat first car good...I would buy something local that looks "ok" and is reliable.
But, there are some exceptions. Someone I know imported a 2005 japanese sports car and transport/tax was $1k and car was $5k. The car was getting close to not pass emission standard in japan, but in US it was very above average
nearly put him in my initial post but didn't want to loop him in unless he wanted.
Get a bike license, security gear and invest the rest of the money in a fun motorcycle. That's what I did.
I sold my car, bought a used Hornet a few years back and upgraded to a new Fireblade this year. Best decision.
If you want to get a fun car that you can work on take a look at BMW's E36 or Merc's W202. Both fun and cheap to maintain.
Call me before you buy, no matter what you pick. You pay the food, I'll stop you from getting a lemon and negotiate.
