I started digging into attack bonuses against buildings today, because of the saracen bonus, and I found something very weird and interesting at the same time. (here is the full story)
There are 2 different types of attack bonuses against buildings and matching armors for buildings:
* type1 (labelled as all buildings in genie) - siege weapons, ships, tarkans and elephants
* type2 (labelled as standard buildings) - swordsman line, spearmine line and all other unique units including saracen bonus
Now, the most interesting of all, that only type1 bonus is negated by the masonry (+1/+1 armor +3 building armor), fortified wall (+8 building armor) and architecture (+1/+1 armor +3 building armor) updates, but the type2 bonus doesn't get affected.
This fact basically reduces tarkan and elephant bonus to a minimum, but leaving all other units with their bonuses unharmed.
Does anybody know the reasoning behind this? Are elephants and tarkans somehow special?
Also if all siege weapons are in the type1 category, why is the war wagon in type2? It has a very similar projectile to scorpions...
Anyways, just wanted to hear your opinions on this.
