I say Mayans. Here's why:
1. You research loom right away so there's no fuss about losing a vil to a boar (especially during laggy games)
2. Your build up is predictable, but still effective
3. Resources lasting longer is great if you have trouble focusing on a lot of things at once
4. Strong at every point in the game except late imp when gold runs out
5. UU is cheaper than Mangudai (which is also BAMF) and almost as effective with fast firing and quick speed; elite upgrade requires no gold
6. I don't know why, but it seems like I always play well with these ****ers!
In summation, they are a super strong civ on most maps, well rounded like the Byzantines, and quick to rush like Huns or Aztecs. Of course, they can be countered, but they are great for someone who is learning build orders/rush tactics/eco management. There is a reason Viper likes them so much
