Here's an idea, how about we wait until the tournament happens and then come back here and talk about it.

What?! how am I him :D check IP BRO. GG NO RE
You create opportunity for 8? people. Not community. You created another topic which has 10 pages of senseless arguing about Vobbly vs HD? What did you accomplish? Another grudge. For what? For broken game. Once again. If by hosting a tournament with a decent sized prize-pool for our AoC experts to play in constitutes as drama to you then I am sincerely sorry, but no, that isn't going to stop us from trying something. I guess by your own definition I am also creating opportunity in this event, since I am running a whole tournament, much like those people you spoke about in your reply. Sure I am not doing it single handed, I'm doing it with the help of those aoczone admins and guys from HD that you were also referencing before.
EDIT: Not going to respond to 2 month old nicknames. Sorry. Also I do not need to be contributing to community to point out that all he is bringing is grudge and another piece of HD failure. After four years people still falling over it is ridiculous.
I'm sorry but I can't stop laughing at this. After what is it, almost 4 years?, of consecutive failed patches and releases (every single damn time!) what did people expect? People keep falling for it, to me this is sad, what can I do thoughbuddy__1 said:There is no way they could know patch 4.8 would turn out the way it did
Well, this is easy to say after the fact. For sure they had their time improving the performance, and the devs has a lot to answer regarding that.I'm sorry but I can't stop laughing at this. Well actually the beta for patch 4.8. Before it was published and made public to everyone was actually fantastic. Something went wrong when it was pushed and the performance that people are seeing right now is not how it was just 3 days ago.
4.9 should be out very shortly to address this issue and the tournament should not be affected by it since we can use the previous patch that was working great if needed. (Patch 4.9 should be available for private testing tonight even)
But I keep saying this and it seems a lot of people keep ignoring it in order to add more flames to the fire. This tournament is happening BEFORE the game is released. If it runs like ****, has lots of problems and is broken like many claim it will be, then people are not going to buy it and the publicity for the game will be bad. However, if the patch comes through and it runs well, then it will be a success. It's such a simple concept, how can you complain about that setup?

Back to topic :!:
nice tourney, good players, exciting for new civs and how the pro's will play these.
should be fun.
Awesome done all organisers!
Played 4 Arabia TG's today, all on expansions. 4.9 is significantly better than 4.8. They still have plenty of work to do, but I believe it's good enough for the tournament to go smoothly this weekend. I was even able to lure a couple deer on Arabia, big deal for me. The 60 FPS animations are pretty nice now that the game doesn't stop every second to sync like it did in 4.8.
Looking forward to the tourney!

I'd say some posts against you are obviously too harsh, but it' you who's ignoring the most of the arguments against this. This patch might be succesful, which is like THE WORST possible outcome for me and for the Voobly-based community. It might attract new players - will these new players then play AoE2 on Voobly? No. It will take part of the HD players. If the chance of getting them for Voobly was very small, now it's almost non-existent. It will attract some Voobly players, then we're losing them.
You're still speaking like if all AoE 2 players are in 1 community, we're not. I don't play/chat with players from GR/Garena/HD, I almost don't know anybody from CS and they're on Voobly, just the other lobby. If they are watching the same stream as I do for 15 minutes, they're still not part of the same community. For our Voobly - based community this can end bad or worse. BAD - this tournament will show it's a bad patch, everything will go wrong and despite great casting, great Nilpferd and great players it will end as a failure. Microsoft will likely never more collaborate with escape gaming = with our community and it will be wasted time of many people. It's nothing personal Zak, I like you and enjoyed your streaming, however this project is a threat.
WORSE - it will attract some to many players - once again it's dividing the community. However it will be succes for Microsoft, for escape gaming and for some top players who play for money, because Microsoft might donate another tournament later. It will be a succes for you, because you'll 'break viewer record' and when you'll stream this patch later on, you'll get new viewers, new subs, new donators...
So it's simple, succes of this - big loss for our Voobly AoC based community. Failure of this - small loss, small win for us.
Dracont, in the ideal case your "worse" scenario will make voobly no longer needed.
I don't think that this would be something bad, for it has served its purpose.
