true, defensive castle helps me in castle age, but it doesnt help me for long when he fast imps.
going scouts right away in castle and contain him is probably the best option though
Thats dumbest thing i've read in my life, you clearly didnt met 1800 aztec monk rush. He will a) send 30monks 6 rams in them garrrisoned, place under castle and convert any mangonels anything that could stop and castle will go down, or as mentioned be followed by fast ~min 24 imp and you would be even more screwed. Going scouts is actually not that good option cause they can be walled of against, archers are actually more effective way of dealing with monks especially early castle age than scoutsA castle always defends you against castle age rush, while he imps up you should have the eco upperhand. From that point it depends on your army micro and unit composition.
You could also try to get in with huskarls from the side using petards and get as many villagers as possible; while he comes back with the monks the damage is done.

goths dont have walls. xbows is an option though... only gonna delay the monk rush a bit cuz you cant do much with xbows against monks and mangonels. if he goes forward monasteries, and you can snipe off the vils and some early monks, its nice though
you are not prolonged feudal when you do it, you up black + archery on min 15 which is normal castle age time.problem is that any decent azt player will notice a prolonged feudal and scout what you're doing. So big chance that ur feud army will be useless :/
with two similar skilled players (and at least 17+/18+) imho the atz schould win in 90% of the games ...
imho goth's best bett is to do some scouts while upping and try to get some relics himself ... then 3 tc boom and either try to buy some more time with a def castle and go husk or no castle and mass londswords ... but if you don't get the atz while he is not paying attention he should win the first big engagement and then its usually gg ...
