I have been hearing on twitch that monks are OP by many pros, more recently in Hera Podcast. In my opinion they are only focusing in castle age arabia to base that opinion, and specifically on monks vs knights.
Now, Monks play a major role in balancing the game, some examples:
To be honest i would be fine if monks were removed or heavily nerfed, but now you MUST rebalance the whole game, because they are just a core unit in balancing aoe2.
If the issue is monks vs knights (which is the way i have seem the discussion been focus) then just make knights a bit harder to convert. Don't go for the ridiculous ideas we have heard because they will 100% break the game.
Whats your opinion?

- Elephant units would be unstoppable in many cases.
- Strong unique units would completely dominate the castle age like conquistator, war wagon, etc.
- Many decent units would be insane for some civ match ups, mayans vs goths is doable because some monks can help make the game even in castle age, onagers and bbc vs no BBC civ would be insane too.
