Winner of kotd3 is not from GM and boa2 was already lost to aM. So why would they be considered the top dogs now.
Also daut confirmed best GL 1v1 player since he didn't get easily swept like last year's leftovers

I know it’s a joke by the OP but I don’t think Viper has really dropped off as much as the 2-5 players over the last 1.5 years have really raised their level. It felt like in the past Viper winning was inevitable against just about anyone... now it seems he can drop series in major tournaments just like anyone else in the top-5. He’s still arguably the best player in the world, just a lot more vulnerable now due to the improvement of the other top level guys.

Hera, Yo, Liereyy, Villese, Dogao are all at their peak Elo on aoe-elo.com. MbL is 9 Elo off his Voobly peak and could be at a new overall peak for the final. In that sense, it's not a surprise that these players have pushed hard in the quarter-finals.

Tatoh's peak 2 months ago means those four players chasing Viper on DE are now above RiuT and Chris, who have now teamed up, plus DauT and Jordan, so competition may increase further, but still, only Viper has shown that level of dominance on Voobly - so if anyone can again, surely he would be the favourite?

I agree with this, it's really clear that all those guys who were fighting for 2nd place for a long time (Mr_Yo, Liereyy, MBL, Hera more recently) have now reached roughly the same level as Viper. I don't think we'll see domination in the form Viper showed on voobly from 2012-2018 ish again moving forwards, things will be much more competitive among the top few players now.

@HyunAOP I know it's a joke, but: GL is not washed up - objectively speaking they're still one of the strongest teams, but if you compare them to the old TyRanT clan then yes, they're just a shadow of what they once were. Only Viper has remained at that top level - that is also probably hurting his game, not being among the very best/most competitive players as he once was.
