Very nice stuff mr kkab
I think nowadays being smart is more important than in the past, althought in the past being smart could make you win one tourney. AoC needs much more brain than others RTSs.
-Daut had being best for years because he is smart (spatial intelligence mostly) and has best macro, but his micro is quite average. He improve a bit his skill during and after BCC2
-Chris had being best for years because he also is smart (logical-mathemathical intelligence mostly), great micro, good macro. His skills peaked at 2005-2007. Nowadays he plays smarter.
Grunt is smart, but in my eyes his skill had never being so special, he is also very hard worker
Halen got great skills (micro+macro), not so smart.
Koven got best skills, but even less smart.
idk how good they could be now.
I think you (kkab) think that player with best skill will always end up being best. Im not sure.
So if you were aoc best at 17years
at 27 you have an R8

kkab, what are your views on FOX_Girino smartness and skillset? I know you were sort of friends with him and, uh, helped him out a little here and there. Also is Alive a player that perform well on that build order comparison that you measured and said viper and dogao are currently the best? Anything you can say about Hammet and KGB_Logan?
As a brazilian I was just curious about your views on these players that were some of our best, but I know that they are mostly unknown to outsiders, I hope you can again be as detailed as you feel lilke, your views offer a lot of insight and information, thank your for paticipating in this thread with your vast knowledge!

i trained fox_girino when he lost windy on final.
i am remember him exact. how we trained, what was our plan. it wasn't much different when i trained with daut.
i trained sava in moh when he fight against alive.
alive was my good friend for long time. i am able to explain about him too.

Noob game. Them guys wouldn't make it out of feudal age vs a 1900. And micro was not impressive. And judging by there tactics and game decisions, they look 1750. A few months to be a top player? They have too much to learn 11.
Agree with Funito. Koven has made no contribution towards AOC. Though he was a great player, I don't see how he was any different from someone who invested a lot of time into this game and played it really well. I've yet to see any strategy Koven invented and in order to be a Legend in my book, you need to be more then just a great player, you need to change the game itself. He was just an assassin during tournaments with proper training. He may have been a great copy-cat but Viper is the real deal.
