I think the Axumites had a much more well -rounded army.
I know they employed an effective cavalry force. According to Wiki the Ethiopian army consisted of: spearmen, swordsmen, elephants, cavalry and Archers.
BTW are you planning on making an African mod?

I have been thinking about it, but I have no experience. I would need some advise before getting started. What about yourself do you have any interest in making a mod?
Without disrespect to the other great african civilistaion, but they cant match up with the post-imperial layout of other civs. They would lack Cavalry, Gunpowder, and the cridibility of all advanced techs like metallurgy will be in doubt.
But what about scaled armour, siege engineers, arbalest, champions, squires, chemistry, guilds, banking, etc. ?Without disrespect to the other great african civilistaion, but they cant match up with the post-imperial layout of other civs. They would lack Cavalry, Gunpowder, and the cridibility of all advanced techs like metallurgy will be in doubt.
There are already civs in the game that lack gunpowder and cavalry.

It doesnt really fit the African setting. But i m sure you can replace them with technologies that do better. I just dont see them going up with the current civs.
No.
I dont think Africa played much of a role nor was strong in the medieval ages.

Neither were the Celts really.
They were more powerful in ancient times.

celts represent the Irish and Scottish people. Don't say they're lesser important than in acient.

The game doesn't need to be 100% based on realityy, just split the humans in two ethnicities: black and white.^^
That shouldn't happen. If Vikings,Aztecs,Persians and Japanese have the same skin colour, then the African civs should have it too.

Africans would get black, rest get white.
I have always thought that the meso-american civilizations should have got villagers with different clothes (only clothes), that make them look like more aboriginal than the "urban" villagers of europe and asia.

They had a larger empire in ancient times than they did during the Middle Ages. In ancient times Celts controlled all of Europe. Then they were conquered by the Romans and Germanic tribes. By the Middle Ages they were confined to Scotland, Ireland, Wales, and Brittany.
I never claimed they had a centralize govt. Just that they controlled more territory than in the Middle Ages and were more of a threat, which is true.

You did claim they had an empire which is not true.
