They did that with mangrove terrain in the last HD expansion. We all remember the glory that is Water Nomad!I hope they make water walkable in the April patch to make water battles more interesting.

To all the "it makes the game to easy" people just don't use it... I think it's great and we need auto villager button next. Yes it makes the game easier and that's a great thing! To be remotely competitive you need to play this game for 500+ hours and thats on a "low Elo level" of around 1200-1500.

Your comparison of this feature to "crutches" & "direct solution to a math problem (or calculator)" is quite wrong.I have made a post on aoe forums.
The only way we have any chance in hell of this being reverted is to let them know in the most reasonable mature manner possible that this will not help but will be harmful.
Please give support and make sure they see it.
Please do not implement auto scouting
Please do not implement auto scouting. You are not doing new players or the game any favors through this option. The way to increase engagement is not through streamlining and destroying the nuances of the game. You do new players no favors by giving them a crutch and teaching them...forums.ageofempires.com
Scouting is treated differently because it is something that is important from very start of the game to the very end of the game. Not to mention in almost all type of game modes, maps and scenarios. Also, scouting is something that you learn in like 2nd or 3rd step of the 1st mission of Learning Campaign. Other things like boom, micro, raiding are situational depending on game mode, map/scenario, type of game, opponent, game time, etc. This is like allowing calculators in primary school math classes.
Casual players also don't know how to boom, micro or defend from raiding. Why should scouting be treated differently? Make a tutorial for it or let people just play on "explored" if they don't want to learn. But changing games mechanics like this is pretty bad.
This is like learning to use a bycicle by using a (crappy) motorbike... You're simply not going to learn lol.Your comparison of this feature to "crutches" & "direct solution to a math problem (or calculator)" is quite wrong.
If you have to compare, consider this like training wheels for a bicycle. It is not something that you want to have because it is not optimal use of the bicycle. But if you do not know how to use bicycle, it is very helpful till you understand the advantages of using a bicycle without the training wheels.
Don't forget: You can stay on the same patch and just not update to the next version to play with players without autoscouting.
The DM community in AoE1DE does it the same because of pathfinding problems. XD
DM Players not on my build....WTF?
The only way to play on the old Microsoft Store client is to have purchased Age of Empires: Definitive Edition on the Microsoft Store before the Steam launch.forums.ageofempires.com
QOL features remove repetitive-APM-clickfest which requires limited skill. Scouting, however, requires game knowledge.i don't necessarily think it is a bad thing to add, but I do disagree that it is 'not a thing that pros will use'
I think using this option can be very valuable in mid game when you still have unexplored areas on the map and some low hp scout that you can dedicate to exploring to find the neutral gold and stone piles, while you can spend your attention to microing your army or managing your economy.
I do not like decisions to limit this option only for a certain game mode. I think consistency between single player, multiplayer and ranked should be priority. So, either add this feature to all game modes and accept that it might improve abilities to scout on all levels (mainly benefiting new players, but to some degree also useful on higher levels) or do not add the feature. I have not a strong opinion on this one.
I also want to mention how a lot of people have a natural tendency to be against some quality of life improvements and a bunch of those people have actually adopted the new meta quite well (of course there are a few purists who still hate these QoL changes).
It is actually quite a smart selling technique of DE to add QoL changes that feel nice, and once you got used to them (auto reseed, tech queue list, idle villager counter etc) it's hard to go back to the old game. Call it sneaky, call it smart, but you can't deny that it might have converted many to now favour DE over older versions.
You're immediately assuming things again, one sentence after saying there's plenty of information alreadyThe fact is, if they implement this and it sucks (like scout walking into tc) then they will simply improve the AI algorithm.
in a few years I hope I will be able to start up a game of aoe2, go get some coffee, use the bathroom, and come back in the feudal age ready to micro the archers that my AI-constructed archery ranges made for me. After all, microing units requires far more skill than all the other tedious aspects of the game! Many players actually agree with that last sentence, sadly.I don't think this is a big deal and actually could implement nice features like auto luring deers, not sure if in de is easy to do, but in voobly, it was quite tricky when there was some lag, those are features that doesn't affect at all the competitive aspect, if luring deers in de is fine, then there is no reason (but to help really low players)
