To those who were still wondering if AoE2HD had helped in growing the community number: yes, yes it has.
Last Thursday, the Entertainment Software Association (ESA, who also established the ESRB rating system) issued its yearly study on sales, demographics and usage datas in the American video games world.
While gently browsing it (studying these things is part of my job), I realised two things relevant to our beloved game:
1 - Almost 40% of the 2013 best selling PC games were strategy games.
2 - The Top 20 best selling PC games for 2013 featured Starcraft II twice (Heart of the Swarm at number 1, SCII at 7 (I remind you that the game was released in 2010!!)), Civilizations V at 14 and most importantly, AoE2 at 18.
So there you go, in 2013, we were officially part of the big boys club. And that is cool as balls.
The ESA study is available online, and you want to be checking pages 10 and 11.
