The Alchemy Guild would like to invite the AoEZone community to participate in Alchemy League Season 1, a unique 1v1 round-robin style tournament in the first quarter of 2024, played on custom maps.
Defining features include:
- The custom maps have been vetted for competitiveness. Maps deemed acceptable/competitive are voted on by the community for a final decision to include in the custom map pool. (Voting ends Dec 23rd)
- Participants will not face an opponent who is more than 200 elo higher than they are. Tournament elo is programmatically calculated from online match history, including win rate. Depending on player turnout there will be several elo-ranged divisions.
- Handicap used sparingly in case of large elo discrepancy so that no player will be turned away based on skill.
- Prize pool distribution among divisions is proportional to the amount of content they generate (games played) for the community, instead of pre-defining a number and hoping enough people of the right skill-levels sign up for it to make sense.
- PRIZE POOL: Currently ~$200. Our main goal is to bring in great people that love AoE and want to play on new and exciting maps in a competitive format.
If these ideas seem compelling, we encourage you to take a look at the handbook! https://github.com/TechnicalChariot/Alchemy-AOE-Published-Specifications/blob/main/CHEM-HDBK-L1.pdf
About the Alchemy Guild:
- We are a small, relatively new AOE2 clan (10-15 people). Mostly located in the US.
- Skill ranges 800 - 2k on the ranked 1v1 AOE2DE ladder (mostly ~1300).
- Lots of custom map-making talent.
