Because it would make games go by faster 11How would it make tournaments go by faster?
Oh **** yeah never mind. Tournament games are scheduled for certain times and game speed doesn't have any effect. I'm dumb 11Maybe he meant to say that the games will go faster if you change to fast game speed. But that is trivial and provides no reason for changing to fast speed. For the tournaments to go faster they would need different scheduling deadlines or structural changes (e.g. shorter group stages, no qualification stage, etc.), just changing the gamespeed won't help. (Which is of course obvious.)
About this, the current multiplayer game speeds in v1.5 are intended to match the speeds that players have come to expect from the original v1.0c release. For normal speed, this was always faster in practice than 1.5x speed and upon release in 2013, even AoKHD was running at this faster speed. If I'm not mistaken, it's at 1.69x now. That's a big change from 1.5x. I thought people would riot, but no one did.
Everyone already hates watching dark age.
Why fast speed at 15 mins ? KappaNew mod?
- Fast speed for dark age
- Normal speed at like minute 15 (Look, don't everyone start bitching about exactly what minute, this is just for illustrative purposes.)
- Slow speed when onagers fire at a mass of units but it is too late to move them out of the way for sweet slo-mo highlights.

- turning up the "normal" speed of the game might work to a certain point. as some of us already posted here UP 1.5c made the game faster and i guess most people got used to it and nobody recalls some "good old times" of UP 1.4 with the exception of conversions) . maybe you could speed the game up slowly every six to nine months (everytime just a small factor like 1,5 - 1,68 - 1,75 - 1,8 and so on) and the players will get used to it. but even if this was done slowly and a higher speed was achieved, i would still fear that tactical varietes dissapear and i would be unsure if single games would be shorter and not even become longer, because on average more games go to castle and imperial age. i haven't even talked about problems casters would have to face.

People misrepresent the strategy in this game. Was the strategic value diminished when the speed was sped up significantly and reverted back to the original game? Also the vast majority of players turn arabia into arena which is the best way to win at this game because walls, houses, and towers are OP. How much strategy is there in that? It's also extremely boring to watch both sides stone wall the map, or one person be dead but drag the game out another half hour because he stone walls.
If you're really worried about the purity of strategy, then why is SQ default? SC2, Empires Apart, and lots of other rts's are MQ. It allows time for more strategy where the highest apm player doesn't have a huge mechanical advantage, and it makes games way more fun to watch since it frees up time for other stuff that is fun to watch like more raiding.
