You should have watched the Voobly channel Saturday.A 2 year old talking about cake
If you watched the stream, you'd know he asked BBQ, but he didn't have time for the entire match. He has been co-casting with various others (including experts) before as you may be well aware.
Co-casting only works with the right synergy between both commentators, so not every duo will be an improvement.

If our audience was purely the current community that knows the game in and out, then I agree, Zak probably wouldn't have been the best choice.
This is a very important point everyone unhappy about Zak's commentary should consider.and when we're trying to spread our broadcasts to a wider audience, the most important part for a caster is to explain what we see, what they see and basically the pure basics of the game I realize a lot of experienced people might look at it and think that it is so obvious and unecessary, but it isn't obvious to new viewers or those that don't know AOE2 that well.

I disagree with this. Answering every suggestion or topic when you are as public as him is ridiculous. There are so many topics I see created weekly that offer impractical suggestions. If people want to see something done differently, they can offer their suggestion, or go put in the work to change something themselves. I strongly disagree with the idea that he, or anyone, should have to respond to everything people say about them. I think he handles situations like these in a very mature way by not getting into never ending debates. The community has seemingly become very political in the way that there as so many combating opinions of how things should be done. Having said that, I do think he is a very smart person overall who will take a constructive suggestion and build on it if he sees something that he believes will benefit himself or the community, but he may not make a post on a forum for the sake of those asking for change.I think it'd help Zero if he bothered to respond to some of this criticism. Just makes him seem arrogant/standoffish by blatantly ignoring it (same tactic he used when ignoring requests for a co-caster, it seems). Not saying he is that way, just how it seems from afar when he doesn't at least acknowledge some people's very valid concerns/suggestions.

The forums are a war that can't be won.
Why do you think Voobly is so eager to cast games? And to display advertisements? It's a commercial company and their goal is to make money!

Please stop suggesting the entire community consists of a few hundred competitive Voobly players. The AoE community is you, me and every other player. Whether they play on Voobly, Steam, GameRanger or just single player. Competitive and casual. In fact it's even more than that: everyone loving to just watch the game is included.

UpperKEES said:Sunday was a milestone in the recent history of AoE and this promises lots of goods for AoE's future. It's something to be very happy about! Clearly CoT has brought the success we all hoped for and Zero's contribution shouldn't be underestimated. I don't understand why people would abuse such a great moment for criticizing instead of celebrating if you love the game as much as the 2251 viewers did. Think about it.
