Halberdiers need no balancing. In fact, they are close to perfectly balanced. Look at a civ like Vikings, who miss halbs and have no other anti-cav unit, like camels or mamelukes. In 1v1 Vikings can be absolutely decimated with only paladins spam.

Also let's not forget the fact that normally Chinese start with twice the villagers of a generic civ. If generic civ starts with 6 and Chinese with 9 they only start with 50% more villagers. Likewise with Mayans.

Extra billagers seems to be the best solution. I think some civs are too nerfed by castle age start.
It sure is pretty bad, but Tim must've thought it only affected opponent since he built his own Wonder. Without wasting those 4k resources on a dead end wonder he might've been able to push through with 300 years.
I didn't get why slam didn't go 200 pop before attacking with the samurais. Then he would probably have outmassed Tatoh easily. Nice defense by Tatoh though.

Fully upgraded Cavaliers are useless once the opponent hits full imperial. I'm pretty sure Champions and their likes beat them cost effectively, and since they lack that extra +1 PA and +40 HP the Paladin upgrade gives they just aren't nearly as close to as tanky to arrows. Simple example...
