This game is FAR from finished. I guess I'll come back later. Not worth imo.
Since the new patch I can't play at all:
Voobly constantly gives me the error: "Could not find game installation directory -- please join a lobby and run game diagnostics"
After running the diagnostics I get:
Then I tried renaming the aoe folder so I reallocate the age2_x1.exe and ran the...
Nice announcement!
But I have serious concerns about GR:
1. Anti-cheat is literally non-existant. How will we know if certain players have no-fog-of-war hacks? There is no control until the live LAN, which is a huge downside. You don't need obvious hacks to get a huge advantage in AoE. And...
1v1 is the only solution, the problem is that with low amount of games people cant estimate your skill, which could lead to imbalances in TGs. Voobly player are quite cautious because smurfing is extremely popular, since it's so easy to smurf. Just ask Bullet for example lol.
AoE 2 is too old to be viable for a popular esport like cs:go or LoL. The remakes won't make it an esport either. The only potential I see is in AoE4, but it depends how the game is received by the players and how far Microsoft pushes it publicity (tournaments etc.)
I hate to be lamed, but I lame sometimes too. But if I get -2 boars and -4 sheep because unfavorable map generation, it's just stupid. I know it's just a game but that's basically gg and the game is no more fun anymore. WK made laming a bit harder giving boars more damage vs scouts, but it's not...
It's arena wit 2 boars and 3-4 deer, not yucatan or BF.
10% faster moving is huge, because it affects the whole game and stacks with wheelbarrow/Handcart. On paper/ statistics it may be low, since it doesn't increase the actual gathering rate, but just the movement speed. But if you think about...
