Usernames are simply far more relevant to the community at large than real names are, because players don't run around sharing their real names widely at the same time that they're climbing the ladder and becoming recognisable. Also I don't want to imagine what kind of linguistic carnage would...
Personally I don't mind at all, because if I can just write off a single weekend in advance and completely dedicate myself to the watching the tourney it feels like a more manageable commitment than trying to follow a spaghetti schedule of various rounds over a period of weeks which can cool off...
Security through obscurity, especially when it comes to bugs and exploits has a very poor record of success in the history of software development. And even if every honest person keeps it to themselves, obviously the people who would abuse it won't hesitate to tell each other.
Makes sense to me, when you're trying to change your game, it's pretty obvious that you're going to be pretty bad at executing the new strats and techniques for a while until you've practiced them, which will lose you some games that you might have won if you just played the way you usually...
One thing I don't understand at all about the way matchmaking is handled is why someone leaving drops the whole game lobby to begin with. Weird an examples it is, I play some Bloons TD6 co-op, and in the auto matchmaking there, if someone quits out of their random game lobby, their slot opens...
A simple fix would be to either 1) add a queue cooldown for people unqueuing from games (5 mins would probably be enough) or 2) just add an arabia queue like how CS has a MM queue for dust2, but I'm not sure either will ever happen.

I propose that for the next major tournament we should go even farther than random seeding and implement metarandom seeding: all the competing seeding methods people are lobbying for are listed in a database and then the method is selected by random number generation.
