I believe these matches were played before the ro16 was shown, so they had no info on the opponent (other than ofc that they also won their 1st match).I just realized how odd it seems that Gajah never used that as a home map against an opponent who was obviously MbL and not known for his proficiency there.

Those who were around for the last HC: was the opinion on players at this stage as divisive as it is now? I remember lurking on AoEZone back then but didn't check stuff in detail.
No, it was super consensual among the active guessers after Ro16 of HC4. There were 12 almost unanimously shared picks just from round 1 iirc. Only Jordan-Viper and Nicov-Dogao pairings were splitting people. Those who were around for the last HC: was the opinion on players at this stage as divisive as it is now? Its a new meme originating from Margougou saying "Stay Humble" in a french accent about not being too confident about your picks. It arrived on T90's stream via Dave in his best Margougou impression. Also I'm sorry if I'm being stupid but uhh what's the stay humble thing? Is it a meme I'm missing out on? I've seen it posted quite a few times so just wondering.
I think the main theory is that Gregory said "gg wp, gl next" and Tatoh uses the exact same punctuation and has said that same message in recent tournamentsMy question at this stage is: even if we accept the ACCM = Gajah Mada theory (which I still think clashes with the Ockham’s theory that Gajah Mada looked much more similar to what you’d expect from a Tatoh probably not at its absolute best but in good enough form than to an ACCM in MasterChef mode), why does that imply that Tatoh = Greg as opposed to him being someone like Khosrau?
Beyond the bans of Islands and Quarry, I just don’t see any major coincidence between Greg and Tatoh. Fully opposed draft styles, gameplan, I even want to remember that Greg’s final gg was quite polite whereas Tatoh tends to be succinct… the Goths link and similarities with Stephen don’t cut it for me, Tatoh and Daut’s drafts are often not that similar and Daut practices with multiple players anyway.
Just checked a couple of tournaments, and you are right. I am starting to believe. Are we really seeing the best Vietnamese cuisine class ever witnessed in AoE? If so, I am stoked for him.I think the main theory is that Gregory said "gg wp, gl next" and Tatoh uses the exact same punctuation and has said that same message in recent tournaments
I am not sure if that’s firm evidence though. Historically Tatoh and Daut share strategies and train together, but they also have significant variances in their drafts, and train with other people. Within GL, I feel like Daut’s drafts are often more similar to Viper’s than Tatoh’s. Also, Goths is not a Tatoh civ at all (and in any case both Goths’ strats weren’t the same, could be just a case of convergent evolution).Putting aside his execution, Gregory used Goths on Evacuation and Lithuanians on Hidden Forts just like Stephen, and also had Cup as a home map and Koreans drafted like Stephen.
My point was, I am not sure up to which degree the GL drafts reach a perfect level match up. Historically drafts between Tatoh and Daut seem to coincide less than Stephen and Greg’s.It would probably be a Jordan thing to say that even if I did not check it. You can check if you want.
Then you're still left without a clear TaToH anyway. And I did not expect Jordan to have a GL draft and a focus on new maps.
If you want to force Jordan Gregory, then Ganji Robert, Barles Pachacuti, and TaToH Sumanguru I guess? Seems very artificial to me.
If he's actually Vinch then the only explanation I can come up with for Selim's first ban of Islands beyond the more logical "he felt better prepped on other maps" is... *dons tinfoil hat*... that he thought he was doing his second map pick (instead of first map ban) when he chose Islands. The qualifiers didn't have map bans after all. Also I realise how stupid this is so I'll just shut up now and wait for tomorrowGameplay and draftwise, this makes a million times more sense for me to have Selim-Yo and Sigismund-Vinchester, than the reverse.
