huh?Top players and Big streamers don’t complain or complain very meekly because the scene is pretty much living on Microsoft charity
huh?
basically every pro and streamer have complained regularly about pathfinding for years now. basically within a couple weeks of every patch, someone goes nuclear about how disappointing the "improvements" are.
they want improvements as much as anyone, especially when it could put them at risk to lose tournament games and cost them money. additionally (and more importantly) they know it's not good for the game itself, and turns people off. the last thing they want is interest in the game to die out.
Maybe we watch different streamers, I still have nightmares about Viper going 'new and improved pathiiiiiing' every 5 minutesonce in a blue moon complaints
So far with DE, almost every "pathing improvement" made it worse.. do we really want the devs to focus on "fixing" pathing?Pathing is such a fundamental thing and its broken in DE. The complaints from top players and streamers are completely disproportional to how big the issue is
not sure who you're watching but based on your posting history, you seem to have a weird obsession with complaining about pros and streamersThose are very meek and once in a blue moon complaints for something which is going wrong multiple times in every single game
Pathing is such a fundamental thing and its broken in DE. The complaints from top players and streamers are completely disproportional to how big the issue is
The pros have a discord with the devs, I'd be willing to bet that they mention it to them there. And the devs aren't blind, they are aware it is an issue. If it was as easy as just rolling it back to where it was three years ago they would probably have done it already. Not that I want to defend or attack anyone but not long time ago if someone complained on aoezone about bad pathing, balance and other questionable moves of developers, people defended them saying "Oh this aoezone, devs do not read aoezone. Go report to their official website.". Now people are "defending" pro players because they have been "vocal" in their streams, tweets and youtube shorts? I mean, I would expect much more from someone who's livelihood depends on this game. Or perhaps exactly because of that they are not so vocal after all (understandable to a degree). I mean, casually mentioning that pathing sucks in your few hours long stream does not seem to be much of a critique. Neither do "meme shorts" on youtube. (Can't speak for tweets since i do not use any social media, leave alone follow players around) Perhaps dude just wish that form of critique would be more official, more direct or something rather than mere remarks in middle of stream. I mean I randomly opened Viper stream shortly after new patch and he said numerous times that pathing feels much better right away. Only later he changed that statement to "oh yeah, pathing still sucks" when he realized that regrouping is absolutely broken. It has been four years, numerous tournaments with thousands of dollars, plenty of DLC's and patches and game is still horrible. Way worse than 1999 AoK. I mean come on...
What do you want them to do? Buy a billboard outside FEs office? Not that I want to defend or attack anyone but not long time ago if someone complained on aoezone about bad pathing, balance and other questionable moves of developers, people defended them saying "Oh this aoezone, devs do not read aoezone. Right. I can absolutely believe that they "mentioned" it. Apparently mentioning something is not enough. And by the way, pathfinding and other stuff was messed ever since realease, you can not revert it three years back and be done with it.The pros have a discord with the devs, I'd be willing to bet that they mention it to them there. And the devs aren't blind, they are aware it is an issue. If it was as easy as just rolling it back to where it was three years ago they would probably have done it already.
So what is your suggestion?Right. I can absolutely believe that they "mentioned" it. Apparently mentioning something is not enough.
I'm not sure what you want the pros and the streamers to do? They use their channels to bring attention to it and discuss it with the dev team in the appropriate channels. I don't know what more you can expect from them.Right. I can absolutely believe that they "mentioned" it. Apparently mentioning something is not enough. No, I expect sarcastic comments such as yours on internet forum. What do you want them to do? Buy a billboard outside FEs office?
Pro players use their channels to bring attention to game and themselves. Not the real issues such as pathfinding. Obviously, more players AoE has, better for pro players who live from tournaments. I have not seen any pro player making youtube video of pathfinding issue. Only one I saw was from Mentalist I think, who made an excellent points. He is not pro players though (no offence there). But as I said in the beginning I kinda understand.I'm not sure what you want the pros and the streamers to do? I'm aware that pathing has been an issue since DE launched. Pathing has been an issue since AoK, which is most of the reason we are where we are today. Do you think the devs are ignoring the issue?
You misunderstood what I meant with that comment. I meant the pathing issues from way back are part of reason we have pathing issues today, it's the same code. I don't think we'll ever have perfect pathing without rewriting the code in its entirety.Pro players use their channels to bring attention to game and themselves. Pathing issues in AoK were nowhere near the point where we are now. And no, it was not a reason why we all are on DE. Reason was mostly smooth multiplayers and improved graphics, which was appealing to most. Some others, like me, moved to DE becuase majority moved there. And let's not forget that FE's campaign was full of lies before DE launch about how great everything is. You can find plenty of older posts on AoEZone from last four years proving that.
And I hate that I have to argue once again about such ridiculous stuff but it is so lame when people keep defending pro players and developers as if they did not participate in entire charade.
interesting concept. criticize people for not complaining to devs, without actually knowing if they have or not.Not that I want to defend or attack anyone but not long time ago if someone complained on aoezone about bad pathing, balance and other questionable moves of developers, people defended them saying "Oh this aoezone, devs do not read aoezone. who's fault is it that pathing is bad?Usual suspects mindlessly defending the others while pathing is hilariously bad.
I'm going to go with the team and organization responsible for making sure it works. You know, the company who has re-re-released this game and names it "definitive edition." Alao happens to be the same org profiting in spite of its glaring and embarrassing failures that are not limited to pathing.who's fault is it that pathing is bad?
oh okay. so the same view as those "mindlessly defending the others". got itI'm going to go with the team and organization responsible for making sure it works. I know. Crazy concept. I'm a heretric.
Not one excuse for embarrassing lack of developer skill or reference to spaghetti code (which is a joke.)
Youtube:I have not seen any pro player making youtube video of pathfinding issue.
