Well, can we say same thing for prize money pool of MS sponsored events?who cares, aoe2 is not competing with aoe4, can´t believe you guys keep bringing this topic again.
it got a reasonable pricing at November 13 (-50%) on Steam, before going up and down again. I guess this partly explains the spike.I dont know what changed since Nov but before that aoe4 was having roughly half the player base of aoe2 and now aoe4 has a higher player base than aoe2

The reason for the spike is that the new DLC got released on the 14th of November. Add that to the sale that's going on right now and you've got a big boost in player numbers.
AoE2 has had many previous DLCs, while this is the first DLC for AoE4 and people are pretty hyped about it. There also seems to be more content in this DLC compared to AoE2 DLCs, with it having 2 new civs, 4 new variations of civs, an additional campaign and 10 extra maps.aoe2 also had a new DLC release and aoe2 is also on sale
I'll add that the spike is probably lower because the aoe2 DLC is more expensive than it usually is (at least it was).AoE2 has had many previous DLCs, while this is the first DLC for AoE4 and people are pretty hyped about it. You can also see that AoE2 had a smaller spike with the DLC when it got released, but it's not nearly as big as the one AoE4 had, imo mainly because of the reasons I stated before.
