It seems as long as we have this open voting system, we will never get a good map pool and we will have more dodging issues.
Voting system is so bad since it is just open to anyone even to players who don't even play ranked and to any ELO range.
What I want to suggest, that imo it is really better to remove completely the voting system and then what to do?
The map pool should have 4 fixed maps and 3 rotating maps, the fixed maps are Arabia, Arena, BF & Serengeti (yeah there should be at least 2 fixed open maps imo).
The devs then will directly add the other 3 maps from their own without any voting at all and these maps will be rotated and replaced with 3 new ones every week. 4 bans should be allowable. So let's say an open map player facing this system, he will be able to ban BF & Arena, and also another 2 maps from the 3 rotating ones, and vice versa for the closed maps player which will increase the chances to get the prefered map that fits their style of course will still have the prefered map selection also.
As long as we have this laughable voting system as it is now without improving, the map pool will always be bad.
Voting system improvement suggestions:
I don't know if adding some rules to vote could fix the issue but let's try add these conditions:
- Anyone have less than 100 ranked games should not be able to vote at all.
- Any player have less than 1250 ELO shouldn't be able to vote.
- Last ranked game should be played in the last 2 weeks or even 1 week to be able to vote.
Last note that I would like to add, imo having in-game banned civs draft is a must imo (like you cab ban 5 civs), and if you want to ban some civs you must go random and you won't be able to pick civs and you will be also matched with random player that use this system, pickers won't be able to match against you. This one will be optional if players like to play with banned civs or no they can choose.
