Yet another tournament experienced laming in RoTC between GL and WWP. (G5 ROTC)
The rules clearly state as follows:
Stealing or killing a boar (or equivalent (elephant, rhinoceros, javelina)) of another player is forbidden. If there are extra boars around the map or in the center of the map, meaning that those are not clearly connected to one player, this does not apply to them. All other forms of animal stealing and killing are permitted.
Let me premise this by the following -- most people have strong opinions on laming in favor or against. The rules are clearly stated. This discussion is not a discussion regarding the decision to play on (whether the admin win should have been enforced), it's obvious it could have been justifiably.
As such, Lyx clearly violated this rule. Admin's contacted players to stop the game and provide a decision of AL, but GL decided to play it out. End result is we got a highly entertaining game.

But let me explain why I believe this rule should not exist in tournaments.
(Sorry, forum only lets me restart order when indenting subpoints. It's ugly!)
GL is clearly the superior team. In order to beat a superior team, you need to employ any possible/facet of strategy to overcome their strengths. By engaging them at their strengths, you are going to lose in most instances. Most professional sports teams attack weaknesses (playing certain futbol lineup organization) or employ "YOLO tactics," to overcome disadvantages. (Pulling a goalie for an extra player).
The strategy that Lyx utilized required skill and coordination from his teammates to execute. After both of WWP's scouts made it all the way over to the other side of the map, Tatoh's TC was left idle at the expense of Lyx's own economy. His micro of villagers made the difference in effectively employing the strategy, taking Tatoh off guard. Not only that, the sequence
I think most would reasonably consider Tatoh a superior player to Lyx. Lyx specializes on this type of play. Lyx effectively took a top 10 AOE2 player out of a team game by his unique skills/capabilities. However, his specialized set of play has been deemed by tournaments as "boring," or "an easy win," for far too long. Lyx was also hurt, but enjoyed benefit from his play. Viewers were entertained more than the standard FC into overwhelming individual GL player skill into GG.
Regardless of if you agree with this supposition, I would find it hard to believe viewers were not entertained by the play that took place -- and I hope to see more of it in future tourneys. If the game had ended at that point in an AL we all would have missed out..

- The strategy is not easy.
- It is a difficult and high-risk strategy to pull off.
- If Lyx fails and/or his teammates do not respond appropriatenlly he is essentially GG and GL wins
- It is a creative and valid strategy.
- Lyx kamikaze-ing his own eco to try to take out or diminish a superior player his opposite is a valid strategy in most warfare games.
- No resources should be considered "a players." You are not guaranteed non-forward berries, non-forward gold, et al.
- Entertainment
- It was extremely entertaining for what otherwise an extraordinarily boring start to a black forest game
- How Tatoh/Lyx adapt to this employment is far more entertaining to watch than standard play since it is unusual and expounds on entertainment/intrigue.
- The employment of the strategy was not an "automatic win," or "insurmountable advantage."
- Many who detest laming claim it was. GL won and was ahead after the use of apm/micro of scouts to further harm Tatoh by yo/vivi caused them to fall behind economically compared to jordan/daut.
- The employment of the strategy was not entirely successful -- Lyx was harmed significantly and his teammate spent more time trying to pull it off than benefit received.
