Look, the problem is the following: You had the chance for a sincere apology but you somehow missed it.This post has already achieved to get me uninvited from a future tournament for making a joke without any harm intended during a stream and it seems that even though i apologized, it didnt matter.
Again, I deeply apologize for the joke against Tim and I've already changed future conduct of my streams. Language will be only english and there will be 0 tolerance and won't promote these type of behaviour. I even tried contacting Tim on discord to apologize but had no answer.
The thing that makes me really sad, is that 3 known mexican cheaters are getting away with it, and they have a group of people backing them up too that don't like me. I can't control people who like or dislike me, but I can control my future comments and that's about it.
I've got too involved with this, and its not a good thing. All I want is the game we love to grow. I always thought that the AoE community was the best of all and felt very welcomed when I came back some months ago, but these type of stuff really makes me wonder if its worth it.
Just see MbL's reaction when he was banned from twitch for a week. He made an AoEzone post and also posted a youtube video basically saying: "Hey guys, I was dumb and made a mistake, I said things in the heat of the moment but that can't be an excuse. Please accept my apologies. I will bear the consequences and promise to think twice next time"
It's that simple: Acknowledge your mistake and promise improvements. Nobody can ever prove whether he actually meant it serious or he is just a good actor. But from what you can tell this was a sincere apology.
You did the following:
- Refuse and trivialize: I was actually talking about the cheaters, not my opponent. Everyone rages on stream. It's a language topic, in Argentina we talk that way ...
- Distracting: There are 3 cheaters, hate them not me, ...
- Acting as the victim: People are starting a hate campaign against me, this thread is only to discredit me. I was banned from a tournament, ...
If there was ever a definition of a half-hearted, dishonest apology, it would be this. It becomes absolutely clear that you don't feel bad for saying something bad but only because you have to bear the negative consequences.
With regard to your "arguments":
- From what I understand: No, you were not talking about the cheaters, you were talking about Lobo and Tim. Believe it or not: Assuming someone is a cheater because of nothing else than his nationality/ethnicity IS racist. Now saying something racist in the heat of the moment doesn't necessarily mean that you are racist. It can simply be a brain fart based on some stuff you heard in the past/got used to over time. But then you should try to work on changing this behaviour. By the way: I haven't heard any other AoE streamer saying racist stuff on stream. I gotta admit though that randomly accusing others of spec cheating has become quite standard unfortunately. But even then "others did that before me" will always remain the excuse of children, not of self-responsible adults
- What the hell does all this have to do with these people? I am absolutely against cheating and support every decision about banning them from tournaments. But why do you have to bring this topic up again and again? They were not involved here! Also I don't understand what you mean by "getting away with it" - they were caught multiple times after all, which is fortunately still remembered by most
- I couldn't care less about the intention of the creator of the thread as long as what he writes is true. It doesn't change anything. If you do something bad, you have to bear the consequences
