Look. I'm not trying to deny that in the past terrible crimes have been commited on the basis of someone being less because of so called race difference. That's an undisputable, terrible fact.
If we want to get past all that shouldn't we stop trying to focus so intently on it though? If everyone constantly keeps reminding everyone else of the bad past how can there be a better future?
If we stop labelling racist stuff as special (still bad ofc, just not more or less bad than any other hate crime), then maybe one day it's not a problem anymore.
But maybe I'm thinking a bit too rosy.
Meanwhile he gets to write this. You don't give a **** about the future, because if you did, you would have realised that condemning racism serves the same purpose as the social pressure that makes people self-police about littering or not picking up after the dog or jumping the queue. That's what creates a better future. But no, you cannot even bring your delicate sensibilities to merely condemn racial abuse on some random forum on the internet. In fact, in your world, it is on the same (or maybe a lower) footing as calling someone's mom a whore. In your world, it was the OP and Fire who keep "reminding" everyone of all this racism by....being on the receiving end of abuse??? How dare they, those blowhards! Why won't they just let it slide and let me be me comfortable? You want them to not bring it up not for them, but for you, and for you only. Your line of reasoning could not have been more disgraceful if it tried. Notice that not one of your protests have been directed at the aggressor thus far.
If you want a true "reminder" of what looking down upon people can lead to, just switch on your TV and look at all the "monkeys" who are throwing themselves into the God-damned sea today in search for an alternative "future" for their kids to the one your dear-old grand-pappy condemned them to. Or perhaps you would rather see the many American houses proudly adorned with the Nazi flag today because their dwellers have finally been freed of the shackles of the social pressure of not calling someone a monkey by geniuses like you.
@Some in this thread: "Allegations"? Are you blind? The links are in the OP's message. They're not "allegations" when the evidence is right there in front of you you morons.
For a second I suspected you were actually capable of intelligent thought. Good to know you're a teenager who has just taken PHYL101 and is wielding it indiscriminately.
I read the entire original post and didn't see the clips that were linked. Sorry. But there were still things in his post that didn't have evidence for them via twitch which I wanted to know more about.
Also, at least in the US, making reference to someone being a monkey or talking about giving them a banana is specifically racist towards black people. I'm white, if someone said that to me it would not offend me in the same way because there's not a historical precedent of that kind of racist talk towards my ethnicity, or comparing white people to monkeys. I'm pretty sure F1re isn't black either (maybe I'm wrong but he sure doesn't look black).
So just because someone uses an insult that would be racist towards one doesn't mean it is towards all. Is it a rude comment to make towards F1re? Absolutely. But it's a special level of insulting to black people because of hundreds of years of institutional racism.
You lose credibility when you talk like that. Your smug denouncement of everyone who's not as "woke" as you is off-putting.
I hate racism in video games, I've seen people use the N-word in lobby titles and talk about Nazism and be all sorts of racist in AoE2 and it infuriates me. I don't stand for that kind of stuff either. It's also important to me that we don't toss every kind of rude comment or someone being a sore loser into the category of Nazism or overt racism.
Looks like from what I can tell Dracken can be a sore loser. So can a lot of people. He should probably work on that. Doesn't make him a neo-Nazi, good Lord.
I look forward to the paragraph-long diatribe from you about how I'm a ***** too. I'll wait.
My point is, calling a non-black person a monkey is in my opinion just a weak, not creative insult. I could use any number of other insults that are more provocative. If I call a black person a monkey, it takes on an entirely different tone that has a lot of racial connotations. Context matters. If someone mocked the shape of my eyes, it wouldn't bother me, if someone were doing that to an Asian person, it'd be a lot more offensive.
In my opinion, someone calling me, a white person, a monkey, has about the same level of offensiveness as calling me a "big dum-dum" or a "doofus". It doesn't offend me.
Now I know you don't need me to say this because you're smart enough hopefully, but "monkey" is code for "Brazilian", who if not black by appearance are culturally and socioeconomically "black" in the eyes of many a *****. It would make absolutely no sense to call a German a monkey, but to a Brazilian it definitely hits a nerve.
But hey, you know what? I have a better idea: I know you're an authority on what is or isn't offensive and all, but how about you ask Fire how he felt about it instead of speculating on his behalf?
I could ask the same of you. You get angry with me about speculating on his behalf when you are absolutely doing the same. Get off your high horse.
I know you're making a joke but for trivia, I first saw Dreams doing it in like 2007 or 2008. Not sure how many know or remember that. It didn't catch on until Viper was holding 2400 and doing it all the time vs mangonels. Viper had a more useful technique and was consistent with it, which is probably why it became a thing instead of when Dreams did it. Dreams used it a bit differently, it was more to evade the shots when running away from a mangonel instead of timing the whole attack as it is now.
This is also a bit like Boxcov's silly box formacion. Someone else did that first too but unsure of particular usage.
But, I stand by my earlier comments that those specific insults are a lot more hurtful and have a racist background moreso towards those that are ethnically black.
I'm starting to realize that solving issues like this on community forums is never a good idea
To an extent I guess a certain degree of "transparency" is not terrible. It's good if members of the community know the standards they should hold themselves up to on per case basis but when you let some of the more... "outspoken" members screech freely about what they like or dislike then it becomes a problem ._.I'm starting to realize that solving issues like this on community forums is never a good idea

Please stop doing that, that is totally inappropriate. You are not in the position to decide what is hurtful for someone or if it's an insult for someone or not. If F1Re feels insulted by it he has the right to say so and to ask the person insulting him to stop. If the person isn't stopping it, it is border crossing behaviour and we as a community need to talk about how to deal with that person and how we can assure that F1Re feels fine in our community.
