Hi Everyone,
Happy New Year, hope everyone had some great vacation time over the Holidays. Also Happy Lunar New Year as that has also recently started. I've got some new matches planned for 2020...
I'm going to be starting up a new Showmatch series. I may play myself or I may just cast 2 high level players to play it, but I'd like people's thoughts on a Twitch plays AoE2 format. I'd like to get multiple communities involved. We could do this on DE or we could do this on Voobly depends on the Showmatch.
Here is what I want to do:
Dates: tbd but February 1, 2, 8, 9, 15, 16 are all possibilities.
For now we can try this monthly then scale up to weekly/bi-weekly
Probably no more than Bo3 or Bo1.
$100 prize money $70/$30 split.
Map Pool: Black Forest, Arabia, Arena, Mongolia, Ghost Lake, Oasis, Coastal, Continental, Highland, Nomad, Bedouins, Prairie, African Waters, Desert Slope, Grand Bara, Mired, Rehydration, Shelter (Both chats will decide for draft/ban)
Civs: Chat will decide on draft/ban
Micro: Each player can decide on micro actions as they see fit. Players can tell chat that an action needs to be taken and they can selectively choose the order of those actions. (i.e. you need to go up to next age, you can wait to build units/buildings and go up first then build the other buildings; you can choose where the garrison point goes)
Player may reorder actions that are being sent, but using honor system must perform as many of the actions as they can. If resources are unavailable, or an action (i.e. delete a villager) hurts your objective you can choose to ignore it. Basic rule of thumb is you must go up when chat says if you can, you must build whatever units you can. Mistakes will be made which is fine.
Players have full control of scout and sheep. Players can attack as they see fit, but if chat says to destroy a building or kill a skirm you must take those actions as well. If you feel like attacking a building with non siege units (i.e. a castle or TC) is a bad idea you may choose to ignore it, but if chat tells you to treb or sonager a building you must do it.
I'm sure more will come as we continue this series, but for now I'm very interested in seeing where this goes.
Any thoughts, comments or concerns are welcome.
