I think the one reasonable complaint being made here is a very legitimate one. As clearly outlined in the handbook, Escape and Zak and admins of ECL had a clear responsibility to announce a change to the tournament settings. "The Administration may at any time make changes to these rules, in the case of any rule changes or updates team Captains and Administrators will be notified directly."
The onus is on escape administration to communicate a change in settings as specified in the Handbook. This was not appropriately done. Heart should not have had the responsibility to question and clarify- if a rule change and major tournament setting change was being made that should have been abundantly clear from tournament administration. Heart responded appropriately and in kind to what he thought was a casual/informal message that more players would be attending the LAN. Placing the blame on any other party than the ones responsible for DIRECTLY NOTIFYING players is not ok here- team captains should not have to be mind readers and ask questions. If a rule/setting change was made, that should have been clear. It looks like that was absolutely not the case here.
Everyone in this discussion could benefit from taking a good look at themselves and whether or not they represented their role and responsibilities well, as an admin, as a player, or as a team representative. To escape I am deeply disappointed at the failure to uphold an obligation to communicate major changes of the tournament settings to teams, especially after seeing such a well organized and thought out handbook that set a high standard from the beginning. To some of the communication from aM players, I am disappointed by the lack of respect, professionalism, and appreciation for the effort and time being put into organizing such an event.
So you gonna come to ECL Lan finals or not?
