Why would it affect current viewers?! I mean, you just gotta open a new tab and type in a url in your browser.
No, even simplier, just click on a link.
Its not like TheViper suddenly streams in Chinese in Mixer, i see absolutely zero obstacles for viewers to watch Mixer.

Firstly @masmora Matt did not have much, if at all any influence on the switch to Mixer.
Matt and TheViper are friends, this is something TheViper has decided to do knowing the risk it might have on his earnings. Proof can be seen here.

Personally I think if TheViper wants to stream on Mixer full time then all the more power to him. Will take a bit of getting used to but it's no different to GKT Cloud streaming on Facebook. If Microsoft want to actually give AOE2 a chance and make it a popular game, Mixer might honestly be their best bet to promote it to front page more frequently.
With AOE2 DE and AOE4 coming soon, I think long term it might benefit TheViper. As far as I'm aware. @TheViper 's YouTube content will remain the same and I cant catch every stream so I'll be content with all this.
Good luck to the snake and looks like my Twitch Prime will now go on DauT ❤
Also MbL is dancing in his bedroom now that he is number one Norwegian aoe2 streamer (and pro player) streaming on Twitch. View attachment 167738
a thread cant be more irrelevant than this...
Look, everyone can choose to believe what he wants.
To me a response on social media to a random user is proof of absolutely nothing.
If you personally choose to believe that this is all just a huge coincidence, that Viper randomly decides to switch to the platform created by the same guy that has been hugely supporting him, then fine, that's your decision. To me it sounds profoundly naive to believe that, but that's just me
I can't say exactly what happened, because I don't know, but I converse with Matt enough to reason out that he was not the sole reason for TheViper moving to Mixer.
Viper has said Matt didn't make him move.
Matt has said he didn't convince Viper to move.
I don't see a reason for either to lie.
*sigh*...
I wish people wouldn't concentrate on that part of the post so much. For me its irrelevant why Viper decided to move. I honestly don't care if Matt had everything to do with it, or just a little bit or nothing at all.
As previously stated, I know Viper is smart enough to decide for himself whats best for him.
Although I like Viper a lot and want to nominally support him in any decision he makes, I really don't like the idea of big streamers splitting the standard streaming platform. The fact that all the non-Chinese language aoe2 streamers are in the same place and you can follow them all in the same follows bar, manage your subs in the same window, use the same bank of custom emotes across the channels, see the same regular faces in chat, join a raid on other people's streams after the show ends, etc. etc. creates an inherent sense of community that you don't always notice but which is essential for creating a sense of streamlined unity and is what makes Twitch a functioning ecosystem and not just a random place to barf a live video feed up onto a browser window.
Think of how inefficient and annoying it already is for community growth that we have 2 (soon 3) completely different platforms for playing the game, so every time a new casual viewer drops in, chat has to explain that no, none of the pros or regulars play HD and that the whole competitive community plays on a tiny independent platform nobody ever heard of called Voobly. Just install these obscure homebrew patches and port over your hotkeys, it only takes 3 hours after all the tech support is done.
Now we're in a position where we potentially have to explain that if you want to watch certain kinds of streaming content, you have to go here or here, and you can't take your account or any of the community infrastructure with you. It creates more cracks that people have to constantly duct tape together to keep a semblance of community.
If it all works out somehow I'll be as happy as anyone but unless Mixer turns out to be the true promised land for aoe2 content and somehow everyone manages to survive the transition without their livelihoods and viewer bases being annihilated, I can only see this as creating more complexity and disunity for aoe2.
Amen brother! Probably the thing I'm looking forward to the most.I will watch Viper regardless. I am just hoping Mixer can play in 1080 quality like any other application on my pc except twitch.
