Hi all. I'm quite intrigue by the whole mechanics of AoE2 after watching games, but I have absolutely no clue what is going on. I tried searching for it, but all guides seem to be for players who have knowledge of the game already. I see terms like frush drush boom, and although I figured out roughly what they meant, I don't understand the significance or purpose etc.
May I ask if there is a total beginners guide for this game, covering like why the boar is important, the various unit types/counters at different stages (and why unlike other RTS games, you don't start massing fighting units that early), unit compositions (I saw a monk + siege unit going rampant, think it is called sacaren monk rush), the significance of walling (are they really that hard to take down early?), what are the plans for each age etc.
A lot of guides are build orders or contain a lot of jargons, which I am unable to comprehend at this stage. Could really see a dummies guide, or if some kind soul could explain. I will probably start installing aoe2 soon, though I doubt I'll play online. Thanks
