First off all, thanks to the Tyrant players and sponsor for organizing, funding and playing in Tyrant Wars, I think we all know it could go without saying, but I thought I'd state it anyway.
The DM FFA event was much more fun than I expected, interesting strategies by all. However, because Daut didn't trade (I guess he thought it was an etiquette thing), he sacrificed a huge advantage that was worsened by the other players actually using that advantage. Since there were no specific rules posted for this match, I can't really side either way. Also, Riuts strategy was very intelligent and well executed, but morally questionable.
Given that, I think that if this event occurs again, either:
1.
-Rules are established that expressly allow or disallow trade
-Have a no camping rule- have one admin be the judge of if a player is camping
2.
Honestly I was skeptical of event watching this game because I'm not a huge DM fan, but I was quite suprised at the joy I got from watching it, and it made me think of some fun DM FFA scenarios, especially on this level.
-Make a special Tyrant War 3 DM FFA map with LOTS of relics (like 30!) Having a resource that isn't so exhaustible yet still shapes all players strategies will make for the most interesting matches I think. Here are some possibilities for mods on the map:
-No Markets
-One Monastery per player- I think
-No Stone Walls (To prevent players walling in monastery)
-Relic victory on (though getting all 30 would be hard)
And some ideas for fun settings:
-Players choose other players civs. Have a randomized system that assigns each player a civ choice for one other player, but keep it all secret until the very last second. Admin collects all civ assignments from players at the last minute and right before launch tells the players what their civ is. OR,
-Have a civ poll on AOCzone leading up to the event where users vote for the 8 civs they want to see, then Katsuni and other casters assign a number to those civs, and then use a random # generator on the stream to assign civs to players.
-Fast speed- both for players an watchers. Games taking 5 hours are hard for some of us to catch it all, and hard for players to keep playing!
These are just some thoughts, lets see what people think.
Again thanks for the event, it was fun!
