It's not really working still, for example this matchmaking lists me around number 600 or so in the world but I'm pretty sure there are thousands and thousands of players better than me! I feel like a lot of decent and good players disappeared when we moved to de.Some of players just like to see where they are on AoE Competitive Scene, even if they are low.
Yes, I see negatives, I see the issues. But lists of positives for me is still longer that nice building collapsing (which I don’t like).1v1 matchmaking is fine, the map pool sux, tg matchmaking is terrible. I have only dropped out of one game and it was last night, I've just heard of and watched other people dropping continuously.
There are dozens of reasons why I say this game is garbage. There are still huge issues after 3 months. There is nothing definitive about this edition of AoE2
-You cannot spectate live games without lag
-Units still cannot retreat properly
-There are still big issues with pathing
-Some of the purported "features" of the game don't even exist. IIRC they said you shouldn't instantly lose carried resources anymore if you accidentally click to gather a different resource. That feature doesn't exist in my experience.
-mini drops, where a game freezes for a few seconds and then speeds up really quickly to catch up
-Currently: TGs crash within a few minutes over 50% of the time
-They recently implemented the ability to save and restore dropped games. Yet when me and some friends attempted to restore a game, it became very glitched and didn't work at all.
-The devs are incompetent, proven by some of the patches they released to the community that were just meme fests of glitches
-The DE lobby system is inferior to the 10+ year old software of voobly
List of positives:
-Its cool when buildings collapse
1) There were a lot of smurfs on vooblyally working still, for example this matchmaking lists me as number 600 or so in the world but I'm pretty sure there are thousands and thousands of players better than me! I feel like a lot of decent and good players disappeared when we moved to de.
It's still guesswork, but @Huehuecoyotl22 made a nice post about it28 days of inactivity; there is also elo decay, but im not quite sure about the maths.
TaToH's main account has now not been used since 15 days.
His rating decayed by 30 points.
Modri has been inactive since 21 days, his rating only decayed once:
1901 -> 1881 = 20 points
Fedex's account Magnus (1860) has been inactive since 8 days and did not decay.
gingira (1622) has been inactive for 15 days and decayed by 6 points.
martinhs (1567) has been inactive for 22 days and decayed by 3 points.
Streetpetenub (1485), 19 days, no decay.
Decay starts after 14 days. I think below 1500 rating there is no decay. Not sure, when the next decay is and whether there is another one, since you disappear from the list after 28 days.
The higher the rating, the higher the decay:
2118 = 30
1901 = 20
1796 = 14
1753 = 12
1718 = 11
1702 = 10
1654 = 7
1628 = 6
1602 = 5
1583 = 4
1570 = 3
1501 = 1
So probably: 1600 = 5, 1700 = 10, 1800 = 15, 1900 = 20, 2000 = 25, 2100 = 30. I think that is not worse than Voobly's. The question is just what happens after 28+ days. I guess it just continues the same way.
+1Pls guys, respect Voobly (and the people behind it), a platform that has given us so much fun and memory.
Remember the days when Taff was the front man of Voobly, Katsuni the main caster? Remember the Nations Cup? Remember the day when Voobly stream first hit 1000 viewers? Voobly is like a big tree and all kinds of birds take shelter beneath it.
Regardless of the sweet and bitter past (and my personal view is that Voobly has been taken advantage of much more than it has wronged anybody), we have so much fun. The least we can do now is don't trample on it. It is still the best platform in many people's eyes and who knows how long MS will support DE, a very broken game. Nobody knows the future, the pros and casters may have to return to Voobly if their current platform is abandoned by MS one day.
