I really like the two-stage idea of the migration map. I would like to see it more and more elaborate in diverse situations.
1 - One thing i was thinking about is a reverse migration map, which is:
The players start together on a central island, with a limited amount of resources, later to spread out to islands or mainland. A lot like hamburger indeed, but without the forest wall. Could have a nomad start.
2 - Migration forest: a cross-over between migration and michi. Cut trough a ring forest to enter a central field. Possibly in combination with water.
3 - Multi-staged Migration. Players start in a corner semi-island, whith few resources just allowing the next step. which is have to migrate to a surrounding island, whith main food/wood resource. Then going to the center mainland finally. There is no shipping route between the corner islands and the center.
