Introduction |
- "Noobs of AoC" is a traditional low rated players event founded by Philippe le Bon and transformed into a series by Blotch. It values random settings and playing for fun, with sportswo*manship & love for the game. After John the Late winning NAoC 3 in December 2015, the time has finally come for its 4th edition - once again a 1v1 tournament!
Timeframe |
- Sign-Ups: Deadline 21st October, 20:00 GMT.
- Group Stage: 23rd October - 12th November (3 weeks)
- Final Stage: 13th November - TBA (depending on number of participants)
Platform & Game Version |
- NAoC 4 is played on Voobly.
- All games have to be played at least on Age of Empires II: The Conquerors and with UP 1.5 (newest version at the time given). It is not forbidden to play on UP 1.4.
- If both players agree, any further expansions of the HD version can be played (using the WololoKingdoms mod). This can be decided game by game (it doesn't have to be one version for the whole match).
Tournament Format |
- All participants will be seeded and accordingly distributed among groups of 3 or 4 players.
- Every group plays a Round Robin Group Stage. The 1st placed of every group proceeds to Paladin League. 2nd to Chevalier League. 3rd and 4th to Knight League.
- Every League plays a Single Elimination Final Stage. The starting position on these brackets will depend on the achievements in the Group Stage.
- In Paladin League, a 3rd place match has to be played (otherwise it's optional).
Match Settings |
- Rated: VCOM Ladder!
- Map: Mad Random Map Pack (yes, every game). If you don't play with the WololoKingdoms mod on, you can use the MadRandom mod for the maps.

- Single Elimination: Bo3, Finals (including 3rd Place) are Bo5.

Gaming Rules |
- Everything that is provided by the mechanics of the game is allowed - no cheating!
- Generally no restarts. If something bad happens (e.g. trapped resources or TCs placed next to eachother), talk with your opponent. You can mutually decide to restart the game. Do not resign before your opponent confirms the restart in the in-game chat! The restarted game starts all random (map pack, civs) again.
- All players are obliged to fairplay, common sense and respectful communication. (Example: Laming is ok, letting your opponent play with a bugged map is not ok.)
- Crashed games have to be restored.
Scheduling |
- Start scheduling as soon as possible for every match. Here are some scheduling tips.
- Once you have double confirmed a match time, it is expected of you to be on time and to inform your opponent, the admins and possible streamers if something unexpected happens. You also have to make sure technical issues and software updates are taken care of before the scheduled time.
Prizes |
- We're currently working on Voobly badges and maybe an expert player who gives the winner something additional.
Administration |
- Admins are the final judges in case of conflicts and interpretation of the rules. Rules will be added if needed. Players can be excluded and Admin Wins/Losses given.

Sign-Up |
- "Noobs of AoC 4" is a tournament for AoE 2 noobs. For our purposes, noobs are players below a Voobly RM 1v1 1600 level. If you consider yourself an overall solid 16xx Voobly 1v1 player (or better), please do not sign-up. Admins will check sign-ups case by case (no strict ELO limit). Sign-ups can be denied.
