I think it will become a fixed strat for mag to sneak/fw just 1villager(keep the rest to run eco) to build a range and take advantage of the +2LOS(which is a very good bonus imo) and good range units they got.
As the enemy responds with skirms, they will bring on (their cheaper) scouts/lcav, also taking advantage of their free/instant bsmith upgrades.
Then if/as the game progresses they will shift more towards their ''cavalry'' designation and take advantage of their cheap and efficient UU.
In a post-imp game I can see them w/ a pala/cram/hscorp/archer or cav archer combo. W/ trebs trailing.
I think it is only fair and very thought out and balanced, that they lack the sram/SO upgrades, as well as bc/bt. It would definitely give 'em an edge, making them a heavy pusher.
Either that strat, or just wall and raid with lcav going fc, or fimp outbooming the opponent(s) and opting for heavy cavalry (hcavarcher + palas) + crams.
In general it is a very balanced civ(got to repeat this), whose bonuses are spread throughout the game, making them neither a rusher nightmare nor a post-imp powerhouse. They don't excell in any age('xcept maybe a little in dark), yet remain a constant accountable threat.
These are my thoughts on Mags. Would love an expert to comment.
Haven't really tried Incas yet.
vs Indians, maybe (although it doesn't look sane, but I'll take your word for it).
Still don't think you stand much of a chance w/ this combo vs a civ with palas.
well as for me magyars r next huns with better post imp units, such like CA with full ups and +1 addiditonal range. As for hussars they r cheaper and better hussars from castle. Also they have stone wall. Additionaly have arbalests and better skirms for post imp war.
Only thing is that they dont have siege rams
