You should have more villagers at hand than your enemy does, since he's in your base.
So if you react quick enough, you can have your tower (in range of the enemy tower) up before or right after he finished his. Garisson 5 vills in your tower and attack his tower with the rest of your vills.
You should also start gathering some stone, just in case is ends up becoming a tower war
First of all, if you're surprised, try to make a tower to protect most of your things from his towers, or slow him down by doing so. Then, you can go and try to take some stone if you can, if you can't you can go in his base to get some. The main point is to try have a better eco than him by trying to protect your vills from dying.
Get stone, make towers to block his advance and keep your resources as safe as u can. If both ur stone are covered by his first towers, try get gold somewhere and make market and buy stone for towers. React quickly and smoothly if your resources get towered by surprise and try not to lose any villagers. You maynot get a good farming eco at all vs a good trusher, so i recommend to buy food using a market to reach castle age earlier. Try to get an idea of what ur enemy is doing. I recommend going knights with +1 attack and +2 armor because these techs are the most vital (more important than bloodlines) for raiding infront of towers.
I've got to say that countering a tower rush is my weakest spot in AOC.
The most important thing is just dont panic or overreact. If you spot it early enough try to get a tower up in either a strategic or semi offensive spot (as in get it up before he gets his first up). Otherwise try to cover an important spot (wood/stone, or wood/gold. Then try to wall off access to this spot. Like the other guy said, a good trush will make farming almost impossible. So you really need to make sure you have wood/gold. You can always use a market.
It is probably best to get stone ASAP. If you can put up 3 towers you can almost cover your entire base if you have a decent map. Remember that since he doesnt have anything but towers on the offensive, his only defense for his towers is other towers. This means he needs them in range of eachother. You dont. You just need them in a spot that can shoot his vils if he trys to put up a tower in range of your recources.
Also remember that thrushes usually use 6 forward vils and 4-6 stone miners with around 21-22 pop build order. This means his economy is a long way from castle, so you have plenty of time. Just keep your eco up.
Now for a more untouched part of tower defense, one which I would like some feedback. TIMING.
Lets say its huns war ara. You are doing a 22 pop scouts. If you catch the tower before while you are building a stable, I like to continue with my plan. I throw a tower up ina spot to slow him down, and I just make scouts. He probably doesnt have enough eco to make a rax at home and then spears, so I like to get 3 scouts to him ASAP.
But if you havn't built the stable yet, I like to scratch my plans, and build a market instead. Get 2 towers up as soon as possible, start mining stone very fast, then build farms later. Too many times I have continued with my plans, built my 10 farms like normal, only to have them towered 5 minutes later and rendered useless. But if you can get that stone ASAP you can protect your farming area, then just use the market to castle ASAP.
Once you get to castle I usually go knights unless he walled his towers, at which point you either have to avoid them for a while, or go mangonel/ram.
Hope this helped.
I agree w/ all the above,
just like to add that u should aim vs the other guy's plans:
What's a guy trushing hoping to achieve? Usually surround your TC w/ towers, cut you off your res and kill your eco.GG.
So keep your eco going etc etc, but try to figure out WHERE he will put up his NEXT tower trying to surround you - and beat him to it. That way he more or less will be contained.
In normal speed it is also advisable to have scouts(faster, thus better) or skirms mess up his eco. Wouldn't call it raid. Just keep him occupied w/ nuisance so that u don't make all that easy for him to control both fronts trouble free. HF!
