DauT vs dogao 1-1
Baltic:
As dogao jumps to early lead on sea, DauT begins to run vils to dogao's base on the south side. dogao misses a wall spot as fog of war has hidden a gap between trees, allowing DauT to enter his protected area. With the considerable pressure on his economy, dogao fails to reach Castle Age before DauT is able to take down his town center with a pair of mangonels.
Nomad:
dogao makes aggressive tower push to take control of the map vs daut by towering all around his settlement. dogao then takes this a step further by walling DauT in to the north corner of the map, and begins to suppress. DauT attempts to retaliate with a quicker imperial time and hand cannoner army, but alas, takes too much time as dogao puts on a full castle age push on dauts confined area, taking out his castle and raiding his economy down until there was no longer hope.
Standings: Both players won their First Round matches, so by splitting this round they remained tied amongst each other for 2nd place behind TheViper.
Chris vs Tim 2-0
Continental:
Tim chooses to initiate a land attack to lead feudal age using a transport. Chris discovers this immediately, reacts accordingly, securing his gold, while also putting galleys on shore to help aid in any battles and punish movement by Tim if he has army pass by. Tim switches gears as he goes for a feudal grush after the failed landing, while Chris adds docks and takes control of sea as well with a faster advancement to Castle Age. After taking a commanding lead on sea, Chris begins his process of a land invasion as Tim waves the white flag.
Migration:
Little action in the early goings of this one as Chris impresses with a sub 26 min Imperial time. Tim reaches imperial at 30 minutes. Chris applies pressure to Tim from both sides of the map in early Imperial sea wars. As of '40 chris is much more established on land, although Tim is doing his best to hold some of the map with his navy while protecting his home land. As they each settle on land, each player has a landmass, although Chris’ has much more resources on his as he began to colonize much earlier, and on the better piece of land. Chris also controls much of the gold on the map for a majority of the game. After 1:20 min, Tim waves white flag in the most intense match of the tourney thus far
Standings: After a taking a loss in Round One, Chris responds with a great effort and 2-0 victory in Round Two to get himself back in the thick of things. Tim moves in to sole possession of last place with his second 0-2 loss of the league.
FeAge vs Ming__ 1-1
Migration:
The map is generated in a way that the players do not have to go around the main resourse land mass, giving a player who advances faster and is more aggressive an advantage in this map which is a bit different than a macro-based approach of the farther distanced maps. Neither player takes advantage of this enough to have a significant affect in the Feudal age. In the 1st major batte at approx 23 min, FeAge’s ships stuggle to hit their target as he elects to fight the battle without Ballistics. Ming__ picks up on this and sends several ‘runner' ships, drawing inaccurate fire from FeAge’s fleet. This disadvantage forces FeAge to run his fishing economy and with half of his island surrounded, resigns.
Nomad:
Ming__ elects to go outside of the norm for 1v1 Nomad matches for the 2nd time of the tourney (In Rd 1, Ming__ took Mayans on Land Nomad vs TheViper who chose the more conventional Chinese). The resulting advantage for FeAge on sea is that he has 3 fish boats before goodboy gets his first out, however the difference in population at this time is only 1, in favor of FeAge. Feage’s Town Center placement was excellent in this game, as he has gold, boar, deer and stone almost all within range of his TC. Ming__ was not as fortunate, finding much less food, and the other resourses are much further from his base. Feage reaches feudal age before Ming__ even begins to advance, although Ming__ advances to the Castle Age faster and has set himself up for a castle drop. But FeAge answers with a castle of his own, and with the economy boost from taking sea early, is able to advance imperial much faster than Ming__ for the win.
Standings: Ming__ follows up a defeat in Round One to get on the board with one point in Round Two. FeAge adds his second point of the league.
TheViper vs JorDan_23 2-0
Nomad:
Persian war between the bromantics, and is nother example of how important the initial Town Center is in Nomad. As Viper lands in a deer patch within reasonable range of three gold piles, Jordan must settle for three boar and little else. Dispite Jordan winning the fishing rights, Viper retains mainland map control well, and in Jordan’s attempt to TC gold, Viper catches it with a mangonel and knights, leaving all 6 gold piles of the map in or near his control. Jordan announces the “wp” at ’45 with a difference in score of only 300 (6732-6411) showing how close the match was, but the lack of gold playing a deciding factor.
Ghost Lake:
Mayan war, both players elect for a drush fast castle, with Viper coming out ahead on the drush war as Jordan overextended beyond his escape route, taking hits from TC and Viper's militia on his retreat, then also finding pest’s out of Viper's wolf friends. This leads to viper having the upper hand on his initial early castle raid, keeping the action in Jordan’s base. A very unique thing about these players is their advancements this game, as both players manage to up at nearly the same time the whole game through. The first real separation of score/population happens around ’37, as Viper takes a small score lead, while ahead 153 population to 138. It is at this point when he is making siege to the north east edge of the map, planning to take out Jordan's castles and secure a victory. Jordan issues a ‘wp’ to his co-bro at approx ’43.
Standings: As round two rounds, TheViper takes command of the of the short lived tournament with 2-0 victories in each round. Trailing TheViper for the lead with 6 points are both DauT and dogao, with 4 a piece.
