I've just joined voobly for over 6months. So I dont know anything about "the beautiful old days" - so sorry.
But voobly seems great to me, with rating system, smooth network and active moderators (compare to garena).
Even with p2p online games, you couldnt get a reply from mod as quick as voobly. What more do you expect from a free to play server ?
Viper has tried so hard to climb to the top for a long time. Now, getting to that top, Viper may be lack of motivation to play. Even he hasn't win a 1st place of a tourney, we have to admit that Viper is the best AOC player atm. @@Edit: he won TTW, sorry for forgetting that.
No money, no Daut. Daut, the eco machine, is the goal for most of players for years. His inactive time (the reason why I hate SC2 11) makes top experts lose the power for improving themselves. We would say that the absence of Daut make the whole community go down 11. BTW, Daut will come back for sure when a cash tourney comes. Just rest and wait for it.
Jordan (and Riut) is the type of player that can control quite well their time between life and game so well while getting better and better in game (maybe in life also). It wont be a suprise for me if Jordan comes back with a higher lvl after a long time no play.
BTW, I am not a friend of those experts, just a big fan of AOC . My opinions would be stupid but I wanna share them with people who loves those experts 11.
