I happened to watch a stream by the Viper playing DM vs Imperium @ http://www.twitch.tv/tyrant_theviper/c/2183324
Now, what always happens to me when i watch someone else playing is raising question like "Why dont you do this, why dont you do that?". I assume that Viper knows what he is doing. But still...
If i am in a game where rams are a danger to my castle i usually put a wall around it, at least at the side where i expect the rams coming. (straight up to the castle with 0 space within)
Also i put sometimes a few barracks and stables around it. Ensure there is at least 1 or 2 spot left open.
It costs a little stone, but:
- It delays the time enemy need to get to the castle, giving time for adequate response
- In castle age this eliminates the minimum range weakness of the castle.
- The castle will be less dependend on guarding vs rams, giving more freedom elsewhere
In the stream mentioned above i have seen several occasions where such a wall could have made a difference.
Is this again a noob idea of me or am i just being brainless again?
