Byz are probably my second favourite civ on ara (after goths), since i love their spear + skirm combo. They are not so common these days, since people generally try to copy expert build, style and civs like huns aztecs and maya. But a few years back when people werent so much hun/azt whoring they were one of the most used alternate civs, along with celts.
Byz are great civ for feudal wars, they can beat off hun and azt in a prolonged feudal war. In castle age pike + eskirms are great to mass. Their uu is great vs eagles and other infantry except samurai.
finally the brothers say something that i agree!!! byza is one of the strongest civs i mean it was the most powerful in aok, their cheap units are good to handle feudal wars, they can counter all civs on castle age their stone wall is the best one and theyare so strong cus their tec tree, their buildings, anyway if i can remember right some good players used to play byza 1x1 in arab i just can remember VN_DarkNight he was quite good with them, in a long game huns/aztks/celtics have no chance vs byza.
the thing i like the most is that being a civ specialized in counters, they require skill to explore their full potential, and as someone said, they have no weakness to worry about, no strenght to hide behind.
Maybe what i will say will be considered heresy, but, IMHO, not having blast furnace is more an advantage then a fail, because this teach you to use carefully a counter against his target.
When you use a cataphract against infantry, a halberdier against cavalry, what is + 2 ATTACK? 8%? 5%?
